Is that what you think a digital game is?

I think there will be the day when games will become digital only. Music is still living through vinyl nostalgia. Movies and TV would probably stay alive in physical media. I don’t think GameStop has much life left.

You don't own those physical games or even movies for most of the modern systems. At any time the companies could send out a white-list that make all those discs completely useless.

This is completely true. Most games are just utilized as a “key” to boot up the game. Game companies can go out and discontinue that “key”.

At the end of the day, I’d still take physical games over digital unless said game is exclusively digital.

They're now saying their stores are "essential" as to why they will stay open during these shutdowns

You got to admire the balls of Gamestop to proclaim they are essential for anything.

I'll turned to piracy before I pay for a game I can't physicall own.

Yes, I own them. They are on my shelf. I can put them into my machine and play them. They do not need an internet connection to play either.

Downscale and bring back Funcoland-type retail spaces because nostalgia always wins IP.

I'm legitimately asking. You said it needs to be justified. I'm curious why.

It's amazing how short people's memories are, imagine thinking that platform holders can't track individual physical copies of games and revoke their licences after Microsoft were openly talking about having the ability to do that at the start of this generation.

They can do that, if they want to lose their fan base.

I buy physical when I can. At least I can resell it if I need to.

The point is that just because you own some plastic it doesn't mean you really have the guaranteed ability to play the game forever.

Lol, I like how people treat digital games as the one true gospel when it has its own plethora of problems :p

I always go back to that I still have my 360 because of Arcade Ninja Turtles and X-men. Even though I paid for it I get rid of my 360 it's gone. I get a physical copy it's under MY control of what I do with it.
