So I got mine last week and the arm was floppy as hell. I've tried several methods of fixing it, without the desired results. I first trailed nail polish, but that just flaked off when I rotated the arm. So then I tried putting some tissue paper in the gap between the pin and the joint (as that's the problem), which worked for a while but then it tore up and started dropping down again. So I managed to fish that out, bit the bullet and spent way more than I'd have liked on a bottle of Pledge Revive It (I figure it'll last me forever though) and even that hasn't thickened the joint enough. I guess the last resort is super glue, but I'm concerned about it fusing the joint entirely... Ah well, I got him cheap so I'm not as annoyed as I would have been if I'd paid full retail, but it is irksome not to be able to position his arm properly.

That video in the thread made the fix look easy, but I guess mine is just a pretty severe gap. The pin and 'ratchet' move around visibly when the arm post is moved.

Contact xtransbots directly. If they have parts left they will likely help you out.

I tried that with my faulty Klaatu and while they were initially responsive, they went quiet on me after the first few messages. So I actually need parts for both!

Sometimes you have to stay on them repeatedly till you get your part.

I'm not really a fan of the super glue because of the fogging effect, I'd try layering the pledge and letting it dry...

If doing the super glue, it shouldn't fuse if you keep moving the joints while the glue dries and it'll thicken up the joint for your desired effect... It'll take time... I'd try the wax which you don't need to move as much... The wax leaves a shiny spot if you over flow... The glue leaves a more evidence. Be careful and good luck!

Yeah, that was the reason I paid £15 for a bottle of Pledge! Although to be fair, where it needs to be glued wouldn't show; I was more concerned with deterioration of the plastic.

As this is the first time I've used Pledge I wasn't familiar with its properties, but it would seem that it dries much better when directly exposed to the air, so Savant's arm needed an extra night to tighten up. Case in point, I also applied some to the leg ball joints on XTB's Ollie as they were super loose, but the next morning they were still pretty loose and when I took the legs off the Pledge was tacky to the touch. I put a dab more on, left in out to day all day and it was dry to the touch last night. I reattached the legs and now the right one is super stiff (perhaps too much!) and the left is acceptably so. It will drop if I put it in a Van Damme pose and shake it vigorously, but under normal circumstances it's solid. He certainly won't be doing unwanted splits anymore!

Anyway, Savant's arm is much better today. There's still one spot in the rotation where it's loose, but I reckon one final application should thicken it up enough to resolve that. Even now it holds up under its own weight.

I also applied it to Rouge's legs to stiffen them (worked a treat), Endgame's head ball joint (also great) and Phoenix's left wrist (not so good, but like Savant I reckon it'll be better if I check it again now). I've only used a tiny amount of Pledge so I think I'm set for life! :D

Has anyone thought of a way to make that arm clip assembly move securely?

Do you mean when you turn it and it unclips the shoulder piece? I was thinking of trying some silicone lubricant to see if that helped, but unfortunately I think it's just a design thing. The piece it tabs into on the shoulder isn't deep enough for it to clip in securely and although there are two more notches next to it that are, the wheel prevents the flap from closing enough to reach them.

I think it's multiple reasons, the shoulder rotates tightly and the clip is tiny and succumbs to the pressure.

Did you brush the wax or use an applicator tip?

I used a pipette to put a drop into the gap between the pin and 'ratchet' (in quotes because it's not really a ratchet) then rotated the crap out of it to spread it around. With the second application I just used a fine pointed tool to put a very tiny amount into the gap. As I mentioned, I think the problem was that it wasn't fully dry when I applied the second lot, hence the extended time required for it to harden. I'll do one more application this evening and then leave it alone. It's already stiff enough to stay in roughly the position I want; there's just a small section of the rotation that's looser than the rest that happens to be just above the orientation showing in my pics (so where I'd want him to point in action poses).

Considering that arm was falling straight down by his side when I first got him, I class this as an improvement.

Finally got around to doing this pic.

    SkidsCharlene.jpg

There's quite a lot of cheating going on - my Charlene figure can't actually pull off that pose, she's much smaller than that (I photographed her leaning over MP Roller cuz he's the right size for her) and I also photoshopped out her sprue marks - but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Reporting back a week or so later and after being stood on a shelf untouched for that time the Pledge has obviously had time to settle and now it's solid as a rock. After my last post it appeared solid, but was dropping very slightly over time, probably where it hadn't fully set. I also applied to FT's Phoenix's wrist and a few other figures at the same time and didn't think it had made all that much difference, but now the wrist is really tight and can finally hold the weight of his gun.

I've just taken the opportunity to shave down the window tabs on Savant to allow for easier transformation (although I haven't transformed it yet) and applied some Pledge to the ab joint and the doors, both of which were a bit too loose. I'm expecting similar results after a week or so. I just hope the transformation doesn't weaken the arm again!

That Pledge stuff may be super expensive, but it's like magic!

Has anyone ever tried this autobot throne with Savant and the other masterpiece figures?

How the hell are you even supposed to sit in that thing?
You sit on Bluestreak's back and have his head come out between your legs?
Oh! And Tracks is in there too.

Thank God for this post! I was holding off buying Savant because I thought it would be tough to hunt down the replacement head, until I realized I already had their Dragstrip with the new face!
