Okay to be super clear. I have seen a number of customs using the Hot Spot mold (or Inferno) and a number of customs using the Onslaught mold, I personally prefer the Onslaught mold ones.

The Pyro I would like to make in my mind would be something closer to Pyro's appearance in the LSOTW comics, where he specifically does not have the cab feet of a truck, just yellow flaps (hence why I want the Onslaught KO) the head of the Onslaught figure is closer for me to replicate the look than Inferno's.

    pyro.jpg

Did not know I had to go in to so much detail of why I wanted a particular figure but appreciate everyone's help and suggestions on the contrary. I knew Inferno was readily available to pick up and probably would be an easier option, but ultimately not what I would like.

At this point the whole thing is moot as it is apparent that the figure I am after does not seem to be readily available at the moment. Probably better off waiting until Hasbro just makes their own dedicated Pyro mold.

Got MP18 ko on ebay for $24. Really solid! Joints much tighter than the mp17 ko I got years ago. The paint is good, no obvious probs. Just one scratch on the hood. It is really worth the money. One prob is that I haven't been able to click the hood/chest piece down into that tab on the torso yet, but I had the same prob with mp17 ko.

Didn't come with the shoulder cannons, but I can take them from mp17 since in the cartoon it was Bluestreak who had them anyway.

If you think I'm not chill, you are mistaken, sir. Don't project too much based on imagined tone.

Then that's an appropriate discussion point, isn't it? No need for anyon to get uptight.

Naturallly, in context with your interest in doing a Pyro custom, a fire-truck definitely seemed like the more appropriate choice than whatever Onslaught turns into... but that's just convention. You do you. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Again, that makes sense, going from the more abstracted LSOTW version.

Hey, half the people here are likely stuck at home or under quarantine. Don't take it bad that people are showing interest in your project! :lol

That's the customizer's lament. You gather materials and plan for your kick-ass rendition of an obscure character... and then Hasbro skunks you by giving them their own new mold. The official character selection in recent years is pretty insane. Awesome, but insane.

Yeah, after my last post, I went and double-checked my Onslaught/Hotspot, and was reminded that the combiner port flap has a double hinge with the cab-flaps, so both versions of the shoulders have the connection point... but you replied first. Ah well. Minor point... but my guess is that it wasn't an accident, but rather a cost-cutting decision to avoid remolding more parts than they had to from Hotspot.

I mean, it's cool to get new remolds... but I feel like they probably could have given us some more on-the-nose adaptations of other characters with that basic mold (like a dedicated Pyro, obvs). Inferno/Artfire doesn't quite match up so well - and of course, now we have Earthrise stuff incoming that really nails the resemblance.

but a combiner artfire would go well with the ricochet that came out

also you are assuming they remolded parts when none of the parts indicate any sort of remolding. they literally just picked the wrong shoulders for onslaught and rolled with it for subsequent releases (remolding would actually take more effort considering all of the onslaught specific parts are the same as the official non ko figure). an example of cbb remolding parts is the mushroom peg for alpha bravos neck rather than ball joint

I suppose... who else would go with that combiner, thematically?"

Let's pay attention to the context cues here and not try too hard to misconstrue what I'm saying

I'm not assuming they'd remold any parts, but I shouldn't have used such a vague term as "remold" in haste. What I mean is that they would almost certainly use the molds they already created for Hotspot. Although CAD files are apparently easily purloined by modern KO companies, producing the actual steel molds is still a very expensive part of the process.

So I imagine they just used the steel molds they had previously used for Hotspot's shoulders, instead of paying more to produce NEW molds that were distinct to Onslaught - ie: not re-shaping an existing mold per se, but literally making a new mold for a part, when the one they already have is still compatible.

That is to say (again) that they added the minimum number of new parts to the existing set to get Onslaught in order to save money. I don't believe that was an accident at all. I believe that was a calculated money-saving measure.

Are we all on the same page yet?

    Okay Paul @SirToys, you’re hilarious...

At first I thought you were expanding your horizons in the breath & depth of what you supply with:

And wondered, “Would these be KOvid19 supplies?”
With a minimum of 10k masks per order, perhaps that would cover most of the bot residents in @vvvTheONEvvv ‘s collection that need medical attention. I mean, they can’t be amongst that much plastic crack and not pick up some susceptible symptoms, right?

But now you’ve opened it up product to more people with a more attainable quantity.

I know some of the cheap plastic KOs you sometimes list have limited use after handling, but I think handling this new product after first use might have even less desirable results...:lol

Just got my order from SirToys today (order placed on 2/20). Paul is impeccable as always with his shipment and packaging.
I got my 3 OS KO Headmasters in this package (Brainstorm, Highbrow and Hardhead recommended by a few people in this thread) and they're wonderful! My kids are having a blast with them and the silly headmaster gimmick. I have absolutely no nostalgia for these guys but now I'm wondering what the YM versions are like, haha. I'm slightly regretting not getting Chromedome to complete the Autobot team but I suppose that can be a later delivery.
I also got MF25 Grimlock and surprisingly I feel like he scales decently with my NA Megatron and Starscream. Not perfect as he's definitely huge relatively, but I find the scale to be similar to MP36 Megatron and Gigapower Superator/Grimlock. Personally that scale was too big so I sold Superator and got Grinder instead, but since NA hasn't released any Dinobots, MF25 will do. Now I'm itching to complete the MFT Dinobot set but eh...

Also got the WJ Hulkie but haven't opened him yet. Maybe tomorrow....

Yet my order from ebay that I placed on 2/18 hasn't had any update since being scanned in Guangzhou on the 6th :(

It's good as a standalone figure, but other than that...

lol, yeah the TP one is a joke (if someone actually buys one they'll get it though, which would make it funnier, I'll let you all know if I get a sale). But everyone here in China now seems to know someone with a connection to a mask factory. So I don't think there's a reason for shortages that I've been hearing about on the news.

Anyone have an ID on this?
