Oh wow, that's some of the worst mis-moulding Ive ever seen. The plastic barely made it halfway into the mould. The whole scene was practically tailor-made to frame the guy. "That's Prime's fight!" is the most asinine concept, as if everyone is willing to simply let their leader one-on-one dual the big bad by himself. Every available soldier should've been backing Prime up, and Kup is an accessory to murder for even trying to enforce the one-on-one. And for Prime's bullshit about "Megatron must be stopped no matter the cost!" he sure did take his sweet time letting Megatron go for the gun, and also just stood there doing nothing whilst Hot Rod wrestled with Megatron for the blaster for like a minute. He could've easily jumped in and helped Hot Rod, or ran for cover once he saw Megatron with the gun. (Megatron never used Hot Rod as a hostage, merely a shield, so there's no reason Hot Rod had to stand there) Instead he just stood there doing absolutely nothing. He even shouted "No you don't, Megatron!" and Prime apparently ignored that. This is the same Prime who moments before mercilessly gunned down Decepticons in order to put a stop to the attack as soon as possible, only to take his sweet as time. It's not even like Megatron was quicker to the draw, Prime just didn't shoot. He didn't even move. Arguably Hot Rod's only mistake was tackling Megatron and not shooting him, but for all we know he was out of ammo and since he was running up from behind Megatron he risked firing in Prime's direction if he missed. Hot Rod was the only sensible character in the whole movie, as he actually tried to support his commanding officer in ending the conflict. Hot Rod didn't get Prime killed, Prime got Prime killed, and the writers blamed it on Hot Rod. The only people who think Hot Rod was to blame are kids who never grew up from the 80's who just accept the bullshit they're fed because they were scarred by the utterly trite writing that put Prime down to begin with. Hot Rod deserved better. (at least he got laid in season 3 so that's not so bad) #HotRodWasFuckingFramed
HLJ had two of the Altos discounted by a whole dollar, so I was like YOLO. I guess I'll ship 'em whenever and build them eventually.
30MM is a slippery slope. You get an Alto or two and are like 'this are neat, not that amazing, might pick up an option set to spice 'em up" and then you get an option set and are like "oh wow that's not bad, what about those weapons and special units?" and then they grab ya by the money-balls and twist.
My dude, I was already planning to get into 30MM after I slimmed by backlog down a bit. This is just a trailer.
Well now I'm on forced leave due to Ncov (and either way there's no public transit vehicles willing to ply trips anyway so I can't go to work even if I want to) I guess its time to work on my small backlog.
Like the endless supply of frozen Chicken Soup in every mother's freezer, we have Backlogs for times like these.
i can't find my third MG Nu Amuro Logo base. I had a spare one that came from my Double Fin Funnel set but I have no idea where it is now. Was hoping to try and use it for my eventual 1/10 scale Nu Beam Saber build.
Primed these parts last night.. painted them today. It will take a second coat to really level out. If you look to the left side of the tray, you can see the panels for the legs I decided on painting this evening after a quick priming. There are still some more plates I want to color in too, but haven't gotten to just yet. Two coats of Lichtblau fill in nicely, and it's really a good color for breaking up the solid white design.
This forced leave ate through my stored up Vacation leave credits fast. Of course because of the continued strengthening of the lockdown I don't think my officemates who were not under forced leave were able to go to work today either so.
There's no such thing as Vacation Leave in my line of work. I'm grateful for the freedom of being a self employed farmer, but I still have livestock to take care of and hay customers to take care of. Fortunately I don't have to worry about interacting with people who may have contracted the coronavirus. My sisters in the Metro Atlanta region however are stuck going into work. One is at Emory University, even though the school is closed until further notice, and they won't allow her or any of her Admin Staff to take equipment home to use and work remotely, because "they don't want to tax their IT guys." No it's called they don't want equipment taken off campus because they're afraid people might hock it for a roll of Charmin. My other sister is a PA for a Neurosurgeon, and they're still seeing patients for chronic pain issues, non-emergency care, and the hospital hasn't suspended scheduling elective procedures. Moreover their wing at the hospital is compromised being between the likely quaratine corridor and the ICU. At the same time, she's having to keep her kids home from school, and the school's guidelines for "monitored progress" aka Home Schooling, have her stressed out. You would not believe me if I told you the same exact thing happened to me too. I'll keep looking for my spare base, but I've got the one from Hi-Nu sealed still, and since I plan on EVENTUALLY getting another Nu Version Ka to use my HWS equipment, I can give you a hand.
Yeah, my one gripe about the early Alto armors are that they don't have anything for the legs. A simple set of kneecaps would really balance out the full armored up look. Granted, it's not AS big an issue since my Alto Blue has the Blue Sniper armor so its color matched, but Alto Yellow looks plain with no orange on the legs to match the CQC Orange armor. I suppose in time I'll paint them up myself but I need the Alto weapons upgrade set first to fully plan out the schemes.
speaking of 30mm and how their aren't any knee options... just finished this dude and I used the left over parts from my accessory set to turn the shoulder pads into knee caps. just had to cut a slot to fit it over the knees peg. really looking hard at the Not-Zaku marine type it's got some bad ass looking armour etc. But... I think my Alto team needs a 3rd member too.
Since everybody is stocking up for supplies, I decided to do the same during my weekend grocery trip.
Needs more paint supplies. XD... my supply of paint solvent, sanding pads and belts, and and tamiya cotton points should be delivered by Thursday, but luckily I can put the box aside and soak it in Lysol before I open it. I'm being serious about the pandemic, but this is getting to the point now People are panic buying models for the long confinement. People Are Panic Buying Gundam Model Kits Thanks to the Coronavirus Yeah I'm guilty of preordering, purchasing, and backlogging but even I believe in moderation. ... and then I throw moderation into the Ultrasonic machine to mix more paint. As the armoring begins!! I had to get the heel cover attached otherwise the Unicorn can't stand up in Normal Mode. Before I add any more armor, I need to finish painting it. some Navy Blue on the rear half to match the paint up the sides of the feet, and I've primed these four plates that stick up in Destroy Mode so I can paint them in Lichtblau. While it's two tone gray for the main joint and the long plate at the center and the pads. My altruim isn't just for show! Besides, thanks to helping you I found my misplaced duplicate base! Happy to Help
That Methuss is actually my 2nd copy so I know what to expect. It's a wonderful looking kit with its shortcomings. The kit looks excellent with almost full transformation, just need to take out the hands. The downside is that there is no locking mechanism for both modes and many joints are made of ABS plastic. This won't be the issue for a first year or two but will eventually become a floppy mass if you don't know how to reinforce joints. I still strongly recommend it though. The kit was released when Bandai just started upgrading the details of HGUC line and you can see more thoughts were put into this kit than many of the modern TMS kits such as landing gear, clear plastic for forehead sensor and many nice mechanical details. Should probably work on my old copy instead of building MG Masarai. ROFL. I am only buying these because some local collector is getting rid of his backlog. Before this, I am actually buying less in the past 2 months and feeling great about that.
This is pathetic... and utterly maddening, since I'm already at a point where I can't even leave town to go shopping for Gunpla anyway. Lockdown is in full effect here. Oh well... I've got a hundred or so kits as it is, why on earth would I need more?
