I feel really dumb asking this stuff but so many terms are thrown around here and I can't keep up. lol I want some diorama/backdrop pieces to display my TFs. I have the regular retail stuff (Titans/Siege/Earthrise). I don't know if that's Leader, CHUG, Legends. or what. If someone could tell me what that's called, I would appreciate it. Anyway, I want to find a nice display for them. I would like the Teletraan 1/Autobot base for my Autobots, and maybe some sort of similar thing for my Decepticons. I would prefer it to be 3d and not just a cardboard backdrop. So please recommend to me some places I can look for options so I can get what I'm after. Well I was hoping something existed that I could purchase. Guess it's cardboard backdrops after all.
Backdrops for TF - Toyhax.com I would start with that, and get some foam and make everything else you want yourself. I've been trying to get into making diorama stuff, but there is a lot of stuff to read through. The Gundam folks are pretty knowledgeable, maybe try there. Newage makes stuff for their products, not sure what scale it is though. Newage Scene Suite - Set A Newage Scene Suite - Set B
I'm 95% sure that Hasbro is releasing an official teletraan console inscale with siege and earthrise. I believe john warden revealed this during the Hasbro panel at toyfair. It will come in modules that you assemble together. I suggest waiting as it will almost definitely be less expensive than the X2.
There are also those building blocks that make walls that Toy World did. They came in Orange, purple and black and you linked them together to make a backdrop. They gave them away with a lot of figures so I can't imaging they're hard to locate on ebay or something. Hell, I have three in my closet I don't want. You could probably watch an Emgo review for Spaceracer or Wavebreak and he shows them pretty good if I recall correctly.
"Legends scale" is the name that got carried over to smaller 3P offerings that followed the "legends" class of TF that came out during earlier CHUG offerings. Early offerings were frankly poorly articulated and pathetic. 3P offerings these days are very complex for their size, and usually very articulated: ANWYAYS, if you ever want to leave just boring old Teletraan I, you might want to look into other kinds of chain bases. Bandai and Kotobukiya puts out these nice display stands for Mecha that look like hangars: The scale is technically 1/100 on these, but it really doesn't matter for Transformers since what is even scale when you're dealing with them. ROUGHLY speaking, many CHUG carbots can be considered 1/60 scale. ROUGHLY. As a result, they semi-scale with Warhammer products which have some seriously nice dioramas/play areas. Finally, you might want to look at model train hobby stores. I've been doing that to start doing dioramas for my 4" figures.
