Ha, I just ordered this one to do the Toyhax Pyro label upgrade. $12 on Amazon? Yes please. The label set was more expensive
I snagged a SS Optimus (BB movie) as well as a TR Topspin and Generations Selects Nightbird there for $32 total the other day. They are swimming in TF stuff at the moment, and well worth checking out if you've never been.
The reason I haven't accepted this challenge is that the color yellow is my least favorite, and probably most difficult color to paint on a figure... especially when you're needing to completely cover a color like red.
Bummer! Because I thought the hard part would be converting his ladder into a crane arm. I figured printing out panels to just close off the ladder... (Also, I'd totally base his torso mode after Erector.)
As someone who wasted 2 hours of his night last night trying to paint a part on a gundam and running into this problem, only to finally realize there was a decal for the part the whole time.... yes.
Shoreview Target has 2 Cliffjumpers, I picked up one. They also had TP, limit one per guest, but that was at 7:40 this morning.
I've had good luck with silver and gold on most things, but I admittedly don't paint that much. I do know that yellow on red sucks though. Edina target had man ER micromasters and a bunch of smashdowns and soundbarriers.
I'm assuming that's because red is so bright? The shame is CW Hotspot isn't too cheap or easy to come by. Because I'm guessing that drab blue would be a better fit? Of course then I don't have an Inferno head.
The thing is that you'd have to completely disassemble the figure, and then prime it a neutral color (gray/white), reassemble, and figure out where all the rub marks are going to be on the joints and whatnot. Once you've identified those points, disassemble again, and sand those points down to accommodate the extra layers of paint. Once that is done you can start adding your yellow. Do it in several thin coats... wait an hour or so in between coats... and then finally a clear coat over that. Once that has settled for 24 hours, put it all back together, and you're good!
Think of how the yellow paint looks on Ironworks (though I like it on him since it gives him an industrial, weathered look IMO). If you just tried to paint it yellow, it would look like that but extra bad.

Wow. I was just talking at work today with some co-workers, wondering when/if they were gonna close the Mall of America given it's a tourist destination...and just found out, they are indeed closing it down today. Wonder if the rest of the malls now will follow. People are still going insane inside my Costco...even though we haven't got a lot of stuff left now for them to buy. Like every time we get even a little paper in, it's gone in an hour or two with a limit of ONE. Does anyone know if places like Hot Comics are still gonna be open tomorrow?
Not sure about Hot Comics but Comic Book College plans to stay open. They’re offering curbside pickup also.
We are indeed going to be open tomorrow, and are going to stay open as long as possible. There might be shortened hours or something to that affect, but nothing has changed yet.
