I think this figure would display nicely in a CHUG collection.

Someone has already point it out that it is accurate to the source material.

He's not a shellformer. He's a panelformer. A shellformer is a figure who's alt mode is literally a shell around their bot mode that unwraps and hangs off the figure as kibble like the haslab Unicron (though usually when you're taking about a shellformer, the kibble stays together and looks like a literal shell). A panelformer is a figure that uses lots of folding and flipping panels to accomplish their transformation, with the result of very little kibble hanging off because it has all folded away, like KFC Transistor.

The head probably plugs in there. So if you decide to detach the head for a floating display, you can still stick a cheap flashlight in there and recreate the light effect from the movie.

The more ambitious of you guys can even stick a fleshlight in there if you so desire...

    Urgh.

I hate the 'not' thing. I'll not even get started on why the fuck Hasbro is even in there, like it's the only Unicron figure ever.....

Not trying to white knight this thing, but I'd wager that's partly optical distortion from the focal length of the camera lens. Using wide angle lenses that would be needed to capture the full figure would cause some bending in the image.

I think he might've been talking about the pics with the arms out where he looks kind of oblong. Because his arms form part of the sphere.

The maths doesn't lie. The only way flat lines (panels) can make a circle (sphere) is if there's an infinite number of them.
Anything that starts 100% spherical cannot end up with straight lines.
Therefore 1studio cannot be a total sphere and achieve the fabulous clean bot it does. It allows the engineering marvel to unfold.
Likewise the HasLab perfect sphere could never ever do a bot mode that didn't mean kibble all over the place and a inner body that is otherwise clean and accurate. It had to be simplistic engineering.

    I love it. it's fine.

I don't own a single Transformer anymore 3rd party or otherwise.

This will be a good place to start over.

I agree that it's probably the angle. Or it could be my eyes...

That's probably it in a few of the "over head" images.

But it's this image that made me comment about.

And entirely the maw that makes it look off.

Looks incredible. I’d preorder it if I didn’t have HasLab Unicron ordered, but I’ll definitely be buying this if reviews are as good as it looks.

... that makes absolutely no sense. It has nothing to do with math if this guy ends up being round or oblong or a square.

He's spherical because the design allows the round parts to fold into one another while straight lines exist inside of the planet. There is no "oblong requirement".

Maths don't lie... But I think you are interpreting them wrong. The "Cell" looks like an sphere and the panels on the robot mode are not flat either. The panels on his torso and crotch look "flat" because they are small enough to conceal their curvature.

Panelformer (aka invertibot) is like UT Peru Kill. Shellformer = the majority of the BW-Neo line. Hmph! BW Neo. <Sigh> Zetacell McCorestar-1 Kenobi really blows that design out of the water! And to think, I really wanted that.

Not a bad design. It's just...this is so much better!

It looked good in its day. Like you said, BW-Neo was made up of a lot of panelforming figures, so it was right along side everything. Plus we'd never had a Unicron toy, and this predated Armada Unicron, so this was amazing to see.
