There have been a few Takara Nemesis Primes & Optimus Primes that got Knocked off (Clear Age of Extinction Voyager Optimus for example as a 1-1 and the Nemesis Deco version as an enlarged toy), and as I already said there is a 1-1 KO of the Unite Warrior deco version of Defensor (it's the one that comes with a small blue space shuttle Targetmaster/Micromaster accessory).

I really want that set but I legit have decided I'm not willing to pay that much for it.

 

Are the combiner ports on these figure the same size as Habro like the OS Dinobots where? So we can mix and match? Or are they Oversized as well?

How do the monster modes size up against normal sized figures?

 

In robot mode They are the same size as a small Voyager, or a Diaclone Trizer figure. About 16.5cm to the top of the head. & roughly a 3rd bigger than the original toys. For example they are about the same size (though a bit heavier) than Siege Shockwave with no armour on him.

They are slightly taller than a deluxe in beast mode - but obviously much bulkier - they loose a little height due to the way they transform... But if you are thinking of them mass shifting from a standard robot to a giant monster that works I guess. They are not quite so oversized that the smaller ones can ride on them in robot mode though unfortunately. ( Scouts or Legends would work though).

 

I'm assuming that, like the Black Mamba OSKO POTP dinobots, these will also come in a box set once they are all out. Wondering if I should wait for that. Was there any difference during the dinobots release, or the same?

I think box sets were missing some accessories:
- two fists in case skittles dinobots (no Slash in box set),
- two fists and two sets of guns/swords (only three sets for five figures).
It might be irrelevant in case of Abominus since accessories "distribution" is different (so far).

 

Yeah I read that the box set did not have extra fists, and only 3 swords and 3 guns. My G1 coloured box set is on the way.

I also ordered Slash and she comes with a gun, sword and an extra pair of fists, if I got my facts right.

Did the individual Dinobots each come with a fist/foot and a gun and sword?

 

I only own "skittles" versions, separate releases (I was buying as they were releasing them   ).
As far as I remember, Slag and Swoop were sold with feet (one for each figure), Sludge and Snarl were sold with fists (one with each figure), Slash - with two fists and Grimlock with none of either. All came with set of accessories - upscaled PotP Slag gun and that sword made out of red clear plastic.

BTW, how are you liking your Skittles Dinobots? I think the bot modes look good. If I do get them, I may display them in that mode.

 

In terms of quality/durability - one step below WJ's OS KOs of CW/TR figures. No improvements (WJ tweaked moulds here and there), some simplifications (like tab holes removed from Swoop's sides). Grimlock has the same flaws the Hasbro's version had (including weak hip joints in combined mode). Joints are typical case of KO middle shelf - random thing - pretty tight on Slag, Swoop, Grimlock (excluding hips), a bit loose on Snarl and Sludge, but "Your Mileage May Vary". Slag holds together well in all modes but on Swoop tabs which hold his legs together in dino/limb mode got a bit loose after few transformations, but again, YMMV. Plastic seems middle shelf - I managed to snap combiner peg on Sludge while removing him from Grimlock's foot and Slag developed nasty stress mark on his "combiner fist hole".
Overall - okay. Not meant to be kept in combined mode (quite wobbly, die cast doesn't help either). Dino modes feel a bit monochrome. Robot modes are the best, BMB even followed (sort of) colour pattern where (in most cases) crotch part is black, lower parts of shoulders are white and so on (there are exceptions, like Swoop, whose forearms are grey instead being in his "main colour"). I think displaying them in robot mode is the best choice  .

 

I'm hoping they do the OS KO treatment on the Seacons.

I hear that! I've lost hope on ever getting Sinnertwin & Hun Grrr.

Any of you remember the old G1 KO with reversed colors on Rippersnapper? I ordered a second Rippersnapper to repaint for the 4th limb in case we never get Sinnertwin. Rippersnapper is my favorite so I don't mind having 2 of him.

But I think it's really shitty how they released 3 & then moved on to other crap like the Studio Series bike sisters & constructicons. They just dropped this set & moved on. They could have put this complete set out before the pandemic started messing with production & shipping.

 

They've shown Sinnertwin, back when they were still previewing the 3rd one they released. He can't be too far away now.
