I finally ordered this guy (about 45 minutes ago!) The pictures and this thread really helped me to make that decision. I've had the original mp prowl for years now and I've preordered the + version of Smokescreen on thechosenprime.com. I'll have the 3 datsun bros complete soon.

 

Dumb question guys, but how can you tell an original from a KO on this guy?

 

This one has a new head and updated paint scheme that the OG and KO don't have.

 

The + version of streak hasn't been KO'd yet so any you grab are legit so far.

My copy does have a paint blemish/scratch on the arm but is hidden when opened up into robot mode, and does anyone know what this extra adapter is for?

Nice!! The adapter Is to use the blast effects with his shoulder cannons iirc

 

Not that little on in the picture on its own it has a different connector than the two for his shoulder cannon and the one for his gun(they were all already on the blast effects)

If anyone wants to sell the effects pieces from their MP-18+, that's the part I miss the most.

Ordered this guy and of course he has tons of QC crap. Paint blemishes all over the hood and door. Sometimes I don't know why I bother with these things

 

What is it with these + version Datsuns and QC problems??
The v1 versions from several years ago never had these issues.

 

Beats me. Are they from a dodgy factory? I mean this thing looks like a 5 year old painted it

Apart from the arm blemish I posted about before mine was immaculate.

 

Maybe I'm just really unlucky. I wouldn't mind if they weren't always front and center >_<

I might if I get around to later. I don't think I have a camera that can capture, though

 

My Prowl + was so badly painted I ended up getting parts from my retailer so I could frankenstein a better copy. It was a huge pain though because it involved a lot of pin removal. Overall it was the worst painted of the three Datsuns.

My Streak + was overall very well painted except for a blemish near the front of the hood which is annoying but not worth it to try and fix. I believe overall this release was well painted so you may have had bad luck.

My Smokescreen + (and from what I understand most if not all copies of it) was pretty much perfect and one of the best MP paint jobs I own.

My impression is that all three were made in the same factory so I'm not sure why the quality of the paint application varies so much. If you don't already own Smokescreen + I highly recommend it. Well made figure and the new faces and smoke effects parts are awesome.
