Gregg, Venus, and Bob are still on, which is nice.
That was DeSantis’ recommendation. He says he does not have the authority to outright ban said gatherings; it’s in the hands of each individual organizer. Thus, TFCon may continue.
Depends on if it’s cancelled or just postponed. If it’s the former, I’d hope so, or I hope we’d get some sort of “consolation prize”, maybe a big voucher for Toy Dojo or Ages Three and Up. If it’s postponed, though, well, the tickets will still be valid and anyone who wants a refund can just get one.

Considering the NBA, NHL, MLB all announced postponing their seasons in the space of 24 hours, I see this as going only one way in Orlando. I just arrived a couple of days ago and am at Disney and everytime someone coughs it feels like a petrie dish. Already had events cancelled on this holiday so this feels like such a waste, but better to be safe than sorry. I hope it goes ahead but as each day/hour passes I'm struggling to see it. Hopefully the 3rd party companies can still find a way to stream upcoming stuff to keep the interest going.

Dangerously bad info in this post. 41% mortality from H1N1??? holy crap. It had a .01-.08 mortality rate. 12,000 died out of millions. It was contracted by a huge number of people, but fatalities were very low. Mortality rate with this Wuhan flu isn't high for the young, but devastating for people over 50, especially with conditions. 7-8% mortality rate is incredibly high. If the same number of people contract it as H1N1, millions die. Sticking your head in the sand is a bad idea, this is the mentality that spreads pandemics like crazy. "I'm fine, but I helped wipe out huge swaths of elderly and sick people walking around contagious. But I got my toys, woot." Hearing these things scares the shit out of me and makes me want to lock my wife, who is immunocompromised from chemo, away for months.

Not even weak immune system. Just history or respiratory illness. Corona cells always go straight for the lungs.
I'm sorry to hear about your wife. I wish her a speedy and full recovery. I don't know where you get your info and I could very well be wrong but the CDC listed H1N1 as a 41% fatality rate in 2013 when my daughter contracted it. And it's more than about "getting my toys", it's about collapsing an entire economy because of a cold. I get it, people are scared! If so then don't go. Don't go out and stay safe till the treatments come out. But I have an amazing immune system, my wife n kids have amazing immune systems and I'm in my 30's, I have nothing to worry about and I shouldn't be punished because some people are scared. Let's have a great convention, let's spend some money, let's get some memories made and have a great time and those who are worried can stay home and safe without guilt tripping the rest of us.

I hope whatever decision is made that its good for all. I'm still going IF its still as planned, but I am sure many of us will have to call our airlines, hotel bookings, etc if things change.

You don't really understand the concept of being a carrier. Just because YOU don't get sick doesn't mean you can't catch it and be part of the chain that spreads it to someone that it could kill.

It's not about punishing people, it's about stopping the spread - and conventions are perfect for spreading a virus. But hey, toys and memories are more important, right?

How can I infect people if they are staying home? Are we supposed to just all stop in place and not go to work or to the grocery store or anywhere because some Chinese people didn't understand the health risks of eating winged rodents? I get that I can become a carrier but I'm already a carrier to a plethora of other things that can kill people with compromised immune systems. We are responsible for our own health. My mother has a very weak immune system and that's why she stays home and avoids contact with people, that's her responsibility, no one else's. Stay home and let the living live bro.

The thing to do now is to postpone for a few months, get back as many people as they can, and replace whoever they can’t get back with bigger names.

By that logic, you should quarantine yourself when you get home - I doubt you will. Maybe you'll be the guy who brings it to your hometown! Fun bro!

    1.) ok xoomer

2.) Do NOT use this as an excuse to be a racist jackass. None of us will stand for it, and it isn’t even the fault of the Chinese people themselves that the virus exists. Stop right now.

3.) Bats are likely not even the carrier of the virus in the first place. Per Rolling Stone:

Frankly, I’d rather not see you at TFCon. You may or may not have noticed that the Transformers fanbase has begun to skew younger and more inclusive, neither of which you appear to be.

Walt Disney World and Universal Studios Florida are closed now. Think the time has come to pull the plug on this.

Yeah, with Disney and Universal shut down, half the guests cancelled, and international attendees not allowed to enter the country, may as well stick a fork in it. It's done.

Yeah....Disney and Universal closing up shop kinda seals the deal on this. I’m expecting them to call it any day now.

Big bummer as it was gonna be my first con but health and safety has to come first.

The question at this point is, would they even redo this? They've got the TFcon in toronto in july, so obviously nothing would happen up till then. At that point, would they try and reschedule an event back here in florida, or would they just start work on planning for next year's event.

Yeah I was wondering if they would do something like honor Florida tickets in Toronto as I’m much closer to Canada than Florida but I guess we’ll see.
