I'd take it over any of the Build Fighters garbage that's polluted this thread the past several years.
This is not incorrect. Would be nice to get a real Gundam show again that actually embodies the original message of the series (or some kind of message) and doesn't exist purely to shill models. Something with a real story and real stakes and characters who are actually fighting for their lives and future. Y'know, lame shit like an actual plot and struggle that's tangible.
The problem is Bandit Flower ends abruptly with a big fat "TO BE CONTINUED!!! ..in the Manga" Cliffhanger that has yet to be followed up on in animation.
I have been wondering when are we ever going to continue Thunderbolt? The second ONA series was finished back in 2017, and the manga has already gone up to volume 14. There's enough material to start the third series but nothing has been announced, even with all the cuting they are doing to adapt the manga to anime, there's definitely time for Sunrise to get two more series going. Its been nearly 2 years now, what the hell Sunrise?
Lol I can be very patient, I'm a huge One Piece fan for 22 years... Yes, since the beginning. I'm baffled why Sunrise doesn't wanna continue. Equally shocked why Bandai hasn't even made Thunderbolt Gunpla of the Acguy, Guncannon Aqua, Zanny, etc. Its like both Sunrise and Bandai has either forgotten about Thunderbolt or doesn't want to acknowledge it still exists.
Especially the Thunderbolt Gouf with the twin rotor pack. At least Thunderbolt isn't being treated like Advance of Z, F90, G-Unit, and Lost War Chronicles by being locked behind the P.Bandai Exclusive status, but not having those added models including the ones introduced in Bandit Flower is insulting. Then again, there's no Dom or Gelgoog from the first ONA series either. Yeah, we both know what waiting for decades on a continuation of a beloved series is like.. What's going on though is more like they want to focus on the animated television series that's currently on cable ahead of all other projects. The latest Build series is getting a second season, Battlelogue mini-episodes, and they're building up to the release of the first Hathaway's Flash film, so any other adaptation projects are going on the backburner. Even the second G-Reco movie is being stalled due to the Covid19 concerns.
I've been waiting for the day to see it again. It was a bit hard to follow when I saw it in theaters, but it was nice seeing the Sinanju Stein in action.
Yeah, I look forward to finally seeing it without a ton of red static over the picture (my theater's showing was unfortunately messed up).
Oh God is this another one of those "intelligent" Gundam plots that are really just stupid and nonsensical?
Happy to say, no, it's not. Aside from the completely unexplained and honestly pointless plot point of the Unicorn possessing time-controlling abilities (seriously, it had nothing to do with the actual plot. Seeing the future is a thing, but time-travel/alteration isn't) it really wasn't that high-concept or confusing. It's basically just about the abilities of Newtypes and the ramifications of what their powers mean, like the afterlife and precognition. Which is what I've always kind of wanted to see Gundam touch on. It's always seemed like it's been afraid to actually talk about the fact that life after death is a real thing and so is seeing the future. I also found the characters quite compelling, and the dub was actually very good. Major props to whoever voiced Basta. Also the literal failed Char clone was quite the interesting character, I kinda wish his whole crisis was more elaborated on. Ironically he reminded me more of Angelo than Full Frontal.
Gundam: Beyond animation coming March 20 at the Gundam Base WALL-G最新映像「GUNDAM:BEYOND」3月20日より上映スタート! | GUNDAM.INFO
Glad that's actually coming to fruition.. I can't find the article anymore, but I read through some ComicNews site that Hathaway's Flash will reunite the original Japanese cast members for Hathaway and Bright Noa for the first time since Char's Counterattack.
