We must assume that the initial batsuit and the muscle car Batmobile designs were probably Bruce Wayne's DIY Garage Projects.
At least it may show at least a sensible progression for Reeve's batman narrative.

THE BATMAN Star Peter Sarsgaard Reveals Some New Details About His Character Gil Colson

During a recent interview with Stephen Colbert, actor Peter Sarsgaard confirmed that's the name of his character in The Batman, and shed some light on his personality and motivations.

"Gil Colson, yeah yeah, and I’m a district attorney, and I’m basically a politician that has trouble telling the truth," the actor explained. "I’m a pretty distasteful person in it."

 

Nice, he always FANTASTICALLY plays a weasely sketchy creep, so I expect nothing less from him here character wise. He'll do it well.

Titans Batmobile actually looks kind of cool. And looking at the Schumacher Batmobiles, I think their style was excessive but that's it.


Still for a grounded design, the 1943 Cadillac looks great IMO. It fits with classic stylish cars like the Green Hornet's Black Beauty and the Griffon from the noir anime BIG O.




But for stealth, I guess an ordinary-looking car will do.

 

I hadn't seen the Titans version, not having been able to force myself to sit through season 2 beyond the first episode. But I really like that design.

 

Yea, first time seeing the Titans' car too. I would say it definitely looks better than the cars from 1995-2017. Along with both serial cars. It looks like it combines the 66' Batmobile with the 90's cartoon Batmobile. I also like it better than the car they're using in this movie.

Really, should have just used that.

 

I still think Burton's had the most striking impact and perfectly fit the character & movie in the context it was presented in. I mean, when that thing was revealed, the entire planet dropped its jaw in amazement.

Outside of that - oh my god this PAINS me to say - but I objectively think I like the Snyder version second best. His movies are worse than dog shit, but what I liked about that Batmobile was how Arkham video games it was in aesthetic. In way of having a car that has militant capabilities but is also fast & sleek, I think they nailed it.

That Titans one looks pretty cool, but I think I would have liked it more if that's what followed Burton's version. Now, though, the design doesn't make a whole lot of sense or really hold up imo.

 

If you're going to have a Bat-Tank, call it the Bat-Tank and still have a legit Batmobile on the side. I hated all that jumping-on-roofs-that-wouldn't-have supported-it-for-an-instant stuff. And I don't like the tank aesthetic for Batman in general. Like so many things in DKR, it was cool and unique when Miller did it the first time as a surprise, and much less cool when it later became the norm under other creators.

Between the two basic approaches to Batman -- creature of the night or urban commando -- I much prefer creature of the night. That's why I love the Burton Batmobile (and the Burton movies in general). The tank belongs to urban commando. There's a place for it, but I like it less.

 

Oh yeah, DCEU Joker had his own cool car too. It was a purple Lamborghini. Because the Joker deserves a car that's fast furious and not funny.

See, next to Burton's Batmobile, my favourite real life Batmobile is the Tumbler for that reason. Long, sleek and stylish cars look nice, but there's no way they'd be practical in the cramped streets of Gotham. The Tumbler looked and acted like a functional vehicle for a place like Gotham. They joke it's a tank in the movie, but it was actually a very low to the ground and short vehicle, capable of making tight turns. (It's a LOT smaller in person than you'd think) Plus Batman didn't need to use it to get around Gotham, since his cape and grapnel were better, so it made sense his car would be a last resort. The Tumbler wasn't something for him to cruise around in, it was the big guns when things got out of hand. Same reason I love The Bat (even if I hate its name) because it felt like a vehicle that could actually navigate narrow buildings.

It fit Batman perfectly, IMO. Like him it was brawny and powerful but nimble, and that's what the roof-hopping bit was for in Batman Begins, to show that it was a vehicle that could navigate any area of Gotham, not just roads big enough to fit it. I'm perfectly happy with, and even prefer, sleeker Batmobiles (my all-time favourite is TAS design, but again my favourite real-life version is Burton's by a landslide) but the Tumbler was a great take on the vehicle that fit that specific iteration to a T. Plus the fact that they never needed to CGI it (cough, Snyder, cough) to make it look cool/functional helped. It was all a real life car and miniature RCs to my knowledge.

Also the fact that it resembles a bat on all fours with its wings tucked up is adorable.

 

Man, even if this film turns out to be garbage, at least we still got that damn fine art!

 

My faves being the ‘66-‘68 Batmobile and ‘89 Batmobile.

1st runner up be the BvS Batmobile

 

That's very well done.

It feels like he's carrying a lot, but I hope that suit gets streamlined as the film goes on.
