Is anyone working on an adapter piece to connect DNA Designs' hands onto this Predaking? I'd buy it in a heartbeat
I wish I could, but I've got zero modelling experience and equipment. I was hoping someone else in the forums could work it?
So decided to grab this set for the son originally but he showed no interest so I nicked it off him for a custom. Plastic feels cheap and one of the leg ratchets blew but he's still stable despite. Not bad at all for the price though.
My set arrived this week and have had some time taking it back and forth through modes multiple times. Most of my complaints are really about the original HasTak design of the beast and bot modes which as a previous poster noted many many pages back "even NASA engineers aren't going to be able to fix". Never actually handled the original, but seeing pics of the individual modes of that and then this side by side, I'm so glad I went with this. Having those design faults of the beast and bot modes is at least bearable here because of the efforts to hide the hollow in the bot modes and give us a couple more connection points to make the different modes more stable and solid. Almost feels like WJ found the original plans before HasTak took cost saving measures to it. Ironic that this costs so much less. Out of the set Rampage was probably the worst QC wise just because of all the obvious and numerous excess flash and sprue marks. The other figures didn't seem anywhere near as bad. I was able to shave it cleanly off at least. Rampage's cat head and robot head don't seem to peg together or solidly peg to anything at all. Just seem to rest in place with friction in cat and bot mode, which is weird because of how all the other figures in the set seem to avoid that. Not sure if that's a carry through from the original design or something specific to this set. Picked up this set with intention of possibly replacing my Unique Toys Predaking. I love how that set looks, but I really dislike handling it, especially in combined mode. What this set does really well is the playability. It's very solid, especially in combined mode which can really survive a good shake. The plastic feels really good. I have no fears about breaking it down and putting it back together, repeatedly, and I wouldn't have much of a problem handing it off for kid play either. Can't say any of those things about the Unique Toys version which I'm certain a kid would break within minutes. Problem I'm having now is that despite the pros of the WJ set there's no clear Predaking for my collection. The beast and bot modes on the UT aren't as compromised for the combined mode as they are here, but then this does the combined mode so well. One's not so much better than the other as they are different. Not really a fan of the other Predaking options as they're too stylized for my tastes. Still for what the WJ is and what it does, it was a bargain and not a regretted purchase.
Nicely done weathering...bravo! I too have the KO and Unique Toys Predaking....They are both nice sets, always afraid my UT set will snap...pretty sure the Hastak KO could take a firm hit from a hockey stick and maybe only lose a tooth or two
Gave this to my son for Xmas and he loves it.. he wouldn't let me have it...I also got the sword.. it was worth try $80 I paid for ..
Hey all... Just got this freaking AWESOME set. I did have to clean up some parts and I am doing some repainting(as I almost always do to my TFs). It may be my fave giant size TF in my collection. What type battery do I need for Predaking's head? I wanna get a few of them.
Just looking for some answers/feedback here. So I have checked out both this forum and the POTP forum, and am trying to decide on what would be the perfect Predaking. On one hand, there is the DNA upgrade kit for the Hasbro one, and on the other there is this Weijiang version with it's on set of upgrades. Then there is the waist and back fillers from DSA (which I am not sure are around anymore). What is the best, recommended version, combo, upgrade to have for the best all-around Predaking? I wish certain features of the DNA upgrade kit could transfer to the Weijiang figure, but I know that it doesn't. Again, just looking for some help/opinions. I really want to build the best-looking version possible and there is just so much to decide on.
yea, he shut down shop awhile ago due to personal matters in addition to horrible "fans" harassing him and demanding free stuff
...if you're considering upgrades or knockoffs, then i'd argue that the best-looking predaking is still feral rex if you want something close to combiner wars scramble city scale, or jinbao's oversized knockoff if you want something larger...
So does anyone know how the hell Razorclaw is supposed to hold his gun in bot mode? Or is it only for lion and combined mode? And I have taken about an hour or two do do this, since so many people complain that the Predaking hands should be clawed:
I'm wondering when they will downsize this guy. Earthrize Sky lynx is coming. Need a smaller Predaking. So he can get his ass wooped by Sky lynx.
I have decided that once I get my new place and a proper display setup that I am gonna have Superion(Jet Commander) vs this Predaking, and Omega Supreme (siege)vs Devastator (CW).
