Got my refund from AJ... it was in the form of a gift card... which is great, but there is nothing I want there right now.. thinking about lio convoy.. but that character means nothing to me. Guess I'll just wait.

 

Tried to return mine to tcp but just keep getting messages that they are waiting to hear back from takara on what to do. Kinda miffed on this. Why would they do this? I made it clear how upset I am at this figure and don’t want it anymore.

 

Yeah. That's wrong.

Tell them you are willing to start a dispute if that's the case. You don't want the product because it's faulty and an exchange won't solve anything, period. Who cares what TT tells them.

 

They’re a smaller retailer and are likely receiving an overwhelming amount of returns for Hound. They’ve already paid TakaraTomy for what turned out to be defective product and are likely waiting to hear from TT if they will be able to provide replacements or even be able to recoup their loss on this.

They may not be able to give any more refunds at the moment unless they can get their money back from TT.

No, it’s not fair to the customer. It’s not fair to the retailer either, and a small business like TCP is probably just as upset about it as you are.

Keep in friendly communication with them and have some patience while they work things out on their end. It’s not their fault we’re all in this mess.

 

Finally got around to opening Hound. What a terrific figure and great engineering. Thankfully, no cracks or stress marks for now.

 

Would most US retailers get them from or through Hasbro?

 

I wholly agree and have been patient. I understand they’re in a spot with this too. It’s just frustrating having $160 tied up like this. I sold off my fans toys Willis to get mp-47 so now every time I look at the shelf and see hound it really irritates me with all the issues it has. I really don’t want to be stuck with it like this. Such a shame because this figure could’ve been amazing!

I’ve also noticed more cracking on my copy.

First pic is the peg for the shoulder launcher. Post has had the screw removed since I got it about 1.5 months ago looks like if I put the screw back in it will disintegrate. Second is a small crack that started on the head near a pin. Third is the right door pin. In total I have 10 cracks that have developed with the figure just standing on a shelf.

 

Hopefully they’ll be able to take your return soon. I feel your pain as I’ve had my original order replaced only to have the replacements develop cracks too.

Hound really is an excellent MP and it’s a real shame that this happened on what I feel otherwise would have been one of the best received releases in the line.

These resellers are importing the TT toys - not just selling Hasbro lines.

 

Was the cause of the cracks ever found? Materials? Design? Manufacturing?

 

No official statement given. A Takara rep did say they tried new plastic.

 

so I got my refund for hound and the refund for the shipping...I got it back as a gift card (because that is how I paid). It came out to just under two hundo...but now I don't know what to do with it. I cant get it back as money in my account (I assume)...so I have to use it via AJ. Anybody know of a way to get it transferred back to my card. Outside of that...any suggestions on what to use it on? I'm thinking lio convoy, but I dunno...

 

I'd say either use it on Lio Convoy, Tigatron or hang onto it for a future MP release or a corrected Hound reissue.

 

Yes. TT's incompetence & failure to formally acknowledge such a problem exists.

 

I contacted takara directly this morning about my situation. I brought up how much the issue has come up here on the boards. I also mentioned the hound qc poll and that it’s been mentioned the figure was made with a different plastic. Hope to hear back from them. Maybe make some headway with this whole mess.
