Okay, that Megatron head might be the best damn accessory ever included with a toy. It definitely has a groove cut into it on the left side of the forehead, and the right, uh, column, is definitely slightly rotated, and not flush with the face. I would be so stoked if it was a fully functioning Rubik's cube, but would also be fine if it was just molded in a single piece as a representation of Tigatron fiddling with it. What I really hope is that it comes with some sort of little clear stand so the head can float in the air. Would make a great little diorama piece (like the hologram communications they used on the show), or it would just be cool to have it on a little shelf behind Dinobot, like some sort of trophy. The possibilities are endless!
Alas poor Megatron, I knew him well. Tigatron honestly looks great. The Beast Wars MPs are killing it.
It sort of looks like it's floating or attached to his chest in the image... Maybe there is some sort of stand. I must say I'm warming to it despite it being a frivolous and growingly obligation 'that one thing from that one time in that one episode' accessory.
Honestly, if it is actually moveable and not just fixed, it will be by far my favourite accessory. I'd probably be fiddling with it on my own, rather than having tigatron pose with it. If it isn't actually moveable... I wish they actually jumbled it up a lot more, cause having it "slightly" less than solved makes it feel a bit silly, in my opinion. It doesn't get the point accross nearly as strongly.
Oh... I just saw what the asking price is. Ouch. I sat out Dinobot because wow. When MPs hit they really HIT (and BW MPs have been batting a thousand), but it's still so weird when really high end third party stuff that's cheaper.
I know the MP’s have been trending on higher prices, but 3x the price Cheetor went for? I realize he’s upscaled. But not 3x! Good grief. Ok now bring on the hate for bitching about the price of an MP.
If you ignore Cheetor and Primal, Tigatron is basically in line with the rest of the MP's prices. This just seems to be where the prices are these days. Also, he is not upscaled.
Now that the retooled Cheetor argument has been beaten to death, it always amazes me to see how much TF engineering has evolved. It almost makes me want to see how MP Cheetor could be redesigned, because as much as I like the mold, it's definitely flawed.
Cheetor's tansformation lends itself to a more slender silhouette than Tigatron, the only major thing I could ask for is the strengthening of his waost hinge, that should have been a strong friction hinge or a ratchet.

Which you really shouldn't Just because he's in line with arguably overpriced recent releases doesn't make him any less arguably overpriced. I still very much feel like TT are taking this piss with the price tag on this one, just not as badly as they might have. My unsubstantiated theory is they've either started to notice a push back on their recent gouging or feel less emboldened to do so after the QC disaster than was Hound.
I mean, you can ignore them or not, but the point is Tigatron himself is not a significant departure, the depature happened with Dinobot. We simply haven't gone back to the previous pricing since then.
I genuinely believe that rising prices were a result of economic changes that TT... I hate to say this, took advantage of? They realized prices had to go up anyway and I honestly feel they just wanted to see how much they could push their luck, which if why the price increases have sort of capped off and Tigatron feels less gouged, because people are either starting to be priced out or the QC issues are becoming inexcusable. (And not just in MPs, remember God Fire Convoy’s Encore reissue?) I’m not going to lie and say Tigatron isn’t more than I want to pay. I was happy paying MP prices even after Dinobot, and again AJ helps soften the blow, but I think Blackarachnia was the first MP where things started to feel like the price was... I dunno, almost arbitrary? I’m sure she was expensive, she’s an amazing figure, but that was the one MP who I could stand next to Cheetor, who cost me less than $100 after shipping and say “no way this toy should be 60% more.” I mean, I guess it’s the way things are now, but I really hope for my and other collectors’ sake this is as bad as MP prices get, because past this it’s going to start hampering my enjoyment of the line and I hate the idea that any Beast Wars fan whose been coveting this line s being priced out for pretty much no reason than TT think they can get away with it. I hope the Hound backlash was a wake-up call.
Very informative post! I’m not as active on the boards anymore. I had no idea people were arguing over the whole upscale thing. I hadn’t paid that close attention but man they really made some changes didn’t they? Still not happy with that price! Lol
Well... that is pretty much exactly what I said, just reworded. You and me both. To be honest it's already hampering my enjoyment of the line a little... I used to feel like (although expensive) these things were worth the money... it stopped feeling like that for me from MP-36 Megatron onwards. I think Primal remains my favourite because he delivered so much bang for my buck. The 'improvements' to the line since then just haven't matched up the the increases in price for me. I really hope the prices have levelled out because much more than this and I'm out regardless of how bad I want them.

My goal is not to tell you how you should feel or what you should do with your money, but only to give you the information you need to make an informed decision! The upscale debate was in a weird loop that resulted in a lot of frustrated people and less fun for all. So words got deleted, I made that post, and have been pointing people to it rather than engage because I'm way too easily pulled into weird, long and needless debates because I simply won't stop, ever. Everyone seems a lot happier with me when I just use that post.
