of course i do and i even picked up the clear set to do the chest swap. but that doesnt mean i dont think they are way overpriced.

i feel that an upscale would definitely be worth the price of admission. but i dont think the smaller bots are worth the ask.

at the end of the day it's all good. im entitled to my opinion and you can have yours. that is the beauty of this forum.

...and give us perfectly scaled ones for legends. Without them our best option is the non-color matching Hasbro ones.

As far as transformations go, how crazy can you get with the Insecticons anyways?

The legs have to fold a certain way, the arms have to fold a certain way, etc...

Doesn’t seem like the end result from bot mode leaves a ton of options.

    Maybe I just lack imagination

    You don't.

When we're talking about G1 designs, especially the first few waves, the toy designers essentially chopped up the alt modes to get the bot mode sections. The cartoon designs were largely, if not entirely, based on the pre-existing toy designs. When designing a new figure, that aims to represent those G1 modes, you're pretty tied to recreating how the G1 figures worked. Granted, you can get more creative with larger figure scales that come with the space for more parts that allows for a lot of bot mode refinement, but at this size you're limited by what is physically possible. Even with larger scale figures, with G1 you're still fairly tied to the transformation schemes of the G1 figures. That's why even the Masterpiece Insecticons are essentially upsized versions of the G1 bugs, and the New Age ones are downsized versions.

What makes New Age's bugs a homerun is that they nail the G1 look, but they also add modern articulation, all at about 6 cm tall.

The simple durability of the figures at this size is an achievement, imho. I believe they said something about developing a new nylon plastic for the figures. I'm impressed as all hell, myself.

New Age using nylon? Are you sure you don't mean Magic Square?

yeah the NA bugs are nylon. but that's not that big of a deal since UT/MS have been doing that stuff for years now.

I'm still a 3P noob so its uniqueness was lost on me; but it sounded cool and thus stuck in my head; lol. "They're made out of pantyhose?"

Anyone have any tips for straightening Shrapnel's jaws? One of mine is a little bit higher than the other and it kinda drives me insane in alt mode. Would the hairdryer trick work here? Just not familiar enough with the plastic that NA uses - don't want to damage it/break it.

I'd try dipping in hot water. You can control the heat application a little more with that method. Dip in cold to lock it in.

My prototype of her is being printed now.

Not gonna spam the thread, but FYI for any hobbyists: I've been working on expanding this line and have just started Venom today, if you want to follow along with that.

Yeah, I feel like three sets is ideal:
1 for bot mode and 2 for insect mode,
And then you’ve got a lil swarm! :D

I got a toy set today to go with my toon set, and they came with a sticker sheet for all 3.

Anyone got a pic of them all stickered up that I can use as a guide?

Pulled the trigger on these guys. I love that they gave Dropkick a proper abdomen . . . something that bugged me about the og toy.
