These look great! I knew Sunstreaker would be a retool of the Wheeljack mold, but the changes they made are fantastic! Can't wait to get them both!

 

Getting a serious G1 toy vibe from that Trailbreaker and that is just fine. But not liking that extra weapon. Trailbreaker doesn't carry a cannon, his arm IS a cannon.

 

I imagine the long peg is mostly to plug it in for alt-mode, but I almost wonder if it can't, or at least can't be easily modified, to slide it further down over his hand into a full arm cannon look?

 

Guys relax and take a closer look at his right hand. It is evident that his gun will Indeed slide over his hand completely, Only they didn't do it in that picture

 

I think I know what throws me off about Sunny, it's the chest sticking out far. Maybe it's just the render and in person it might not look as bad.

 

I have the first two. Sunstreaker was my first Autobot, and I remember buying him in LA when on vacation with my family in California (I also nabbed Soundwave in San Francisco - sometimes it pays to have squabbling parents). Anyway, I have huge nostalagia for that figure but the proportions suck with those gorilla arms and sasquatch feet. Die cast was nice, great car mode, but the robot mode was iffy, especially for such a vain character.

Universe Sunstreaker was a sweet update, but despite the apparent lack of paint apps and a good spoiler, Earthrise looks like the best of the lot.

 

And a lot of those liberties will be hard to replicate in a real life $20 toy. I find it hard to complain when the toy features a design element from either the toy or cartoon. I

 

Trailbreaker looks awesome and so does Sunstreaker. The only complaint I have of Sunstreaker is the chest is not accurate, but that's a minor nitpick.

Trailbreaker looks just as tempting as Wheeljack. Hopefully I can fit him into my budget... along with WJ.

 

Sunstreaker not being the same but diff car mode as sideswipe is a travesty. Why does everyone clamor for g1 accuracy but will happily ignore the coolest part of the car bros? Also trailbreaker has that stupid door kibble on his arms it seems. God damn it hastak
