Except for the fact that it's obvious "we as a group" don't all share the opinion that it's "inferior product". You are perfectly free to do what you want but don't lump everyone under one nonsensical blanket statement as if we all dislike everything besides Snake-Eyes. Especially when it's obvious that people have been reacted both ways. SMDH.
And, of course, those who like them will speak with their wallets that they are desired products. Or, is it your position, that the figures should be seen as inferior just because that’s how you feel about them? What other opinions do I need you to make for me?
It's almost total agreement that the Snake Eyes figure itself (forget all the extra accessories), is an excellent figure from all the pics. Now the other three figures in this line so far (Duke, Roadblock, and Scarlet) from the pics, do not match the aesthetics and perceived quality of Snake Eyes. This is my opinion and I feel that every figure should be made to the Snake Eyes standard.
I understand your concerns on the aesthetics but as consumers, each of us can decide whether we like or dislike the looks of these figures. But to presume you know the quality of these figures judged solely on photos speaks volumes of your true feelings on the product. You've made up your mind..please allow others to do the same.
While I sympathize with your situation I think your approach is off. Hasbro isn’t going to view a lack of sales as a mistake on their part, they are going to view it as a lack of interest in the brand. Beyond that trying to organize GI Joe fans is going to be as effective as herding cats. You’ll be better off supporting the line and consistently asking for ARAH versions. Which frankly Hasbro already knows we want but more positivity from the fan-base is going to get more love than negativity. Beyond that buying Snake-Eyes is just going to further reinforce that Snake-Eyes is the most popular GI Joe......which guess what? Everyone knows. He has his own movie coming out.
So it's gonna be POC-ish for these 6-inch Joes except for Snake Eyes. But I think they don't need to Laser-ize the weapons. I was WTF with Roadblock carrying an EMP-Railgun. I thought he should be carrying a gatling/heavy-arms gun of sorts. Unless they reserved that with intentions of making 6" Joe from ARAH lineart.
and the flip side, lets not pressure people into buying things they don't want in hopes of someday being thrown a bone all in the name of "supporting a brand."
This retail store priced level is the only viable way to get a good, wide character selection imo. I've wanted Mezco to make a One:12 Joe line for years but the more I've thought about it the more I don't feel like it's a good fit. I don't need $100 versions of all the characters and I don't want to wait years just to get 5. And I guarantee that the line would get dropped well before they finished even an important cast. This line will do for me. I think they look good. And if you collected any Black Series and Marvel Legends (who hasn't at this point) than you already know what to expect. And hey, at least it isn't Mattel making these.
I absolutely agree with you. Anyone saying that they are not going to buy these figures in hopes that Hasbro will make a glorified up-scaled ARAH line of figures are just kidding themselves. If this line fails, I don't think G.I. Joe will be seen again in any of our lifetimes. Also, 2022 is the 40 year anniversary of G.I. Joe ARAH, so I expect that Hasbro may do a 40th Anniversary sub-wave like they did with the Marvel Legends 80th Anniversary wave. That is where I'm predicting that the characters will get their classic ARAH designs.
I seriously doubt we will never see GI Joe again for the rest of our lives when we’ve already seen dozens of rehashes, reiterations, versions, lines, reissues, repaints, reimaginings, waves, brands and beyond in the less than 40 years its existed. People say they won’t make anymore if people don’t support it and people claim stuff like Star Wars toys are failing yet they keep making more. Most Star Wars and Marvel figures end up on clearance but they just keep making them. What that tells me is that they are cheap as shit for Hasbro to make and the amount they are selling is making them plenty of profit to decide to keep making more.
You're probably right. I think I'm just sorta frustrated at how often I see people saying they are basically writing off this line based on three figures.
I think ARAH designs will make it to the Classified line sooner than that, I just think ARAH will see more homages in the line by 2022. GI Joe tends to be a sleeper brand for Hasbro, it usually goes away but comes back when convenient. Hasbro doesn't usually bank on a specific joe line to sell, they've primarily relied on whether a big media tie-in was coming out. What really sank the brand for a while was Rise of Cobra. International support returned for the movie but died off because of that movie(main reason POC wasn't brought over to Europe). Hasbro insisted that the 25th/Modern line would be put on pause in favor of the ROC line. They even raised the MSRP and admitted that was a mistake publicly, later on(and this was after ROC toys became common at ROSS, TJ Max, er al). This is one of the reasons why a mix works better than choosing a movie over everything. Sadly Hasbro since the mid-2000's has held back anything big for GI Joe for a movie year. They waited until this year for the Classified line when there's been demand for 6" figures for over the past 5 years. I'm at least glad they didn't go all movie as we are getting Classified figures in addition to Snake Eyes movie toys.
I don't see anywhere in my post where I said anything about buying or not buying these figures so I'm a bit confused as to where I'm pressuring anybody one way or the other.
Hasbro should consider a 6” line all their 80’s properties not specific to just GI Joe. Something like Hasbro Heroes. Then they can “kitchen sink” in stuff like MASK, Visionaries; Inhumanoids, Joe. Anything they aren’t 100% confident in a solo line for. It would be prefect for fans of 6” figures who want exact updated nostalgia versions from that time.
Besides the whole endless 6 inch line discussies over what will come and what will not come, i hav only 1 quetion: Where is the 4 inch stuff?
