Azalea looks like one of those wooden artist anatomy dolls, to me. Anatomy is too disjointed and segmented. Everybody comments on how "wrong" MP-51's chest sculpt is, but IMO Azalea's is even further off the mark.

Her alt mode is complete junk.

Gonna be honest, Arcee is looking to be possibly the worst masterpiece figure in recent memory (the last five years or so). They know fully well that other companies are making lewd MP-style arcees, didn’t takara switch to animation accuracy? Nothing accurate about giant hips.

Pretty good analogy, she seems "Frankensteined" to me, nothing is coherent and there is no real esthetic with her of any kind.

Did any of the Azalea 'haters' ever handle her? I wasn't impressed by promo pics either but it's a nice piece in hand and the smaller size helps aleviate some of her aesthetic issues. Ofcourse for the majority of MP display dudes she won't quite cut it.

But for all the complaints about MP51's backpack and almost praise for Azalea's I will say I really disliked Azalea's car parts just hanging loose on her back. I'll take a solid TT backpack any day over that kind of stuff.

I think some have and then got rid of her. I was sketchy about her before I bought her but I ended up liking her a ton more over time.

Also, I forgot how, but my Azalea's car parts don't flop about on her back. I forgot what I did but they can be secured IIRC.

I like Azalea, I don't find her face at all masculine and she pairs perfectly with the TT Hot Rod (unlike Rouge who's too tall).

Like the TT effort, Rouge's best asset is the legs - nicely curved, elegant and well defined. I do find it odd that of all the options, TT's has the smallest pink thong going on, it's the only one of the three I'd be a bit embarrassed displaying!

Azalea's certainly the most fun in hand with the best face sculpt, though as others have said, the lower legs could use a revision.

Rouge looks good (I opt for the flatter chest and face with the larger eyes as the combination is more appealing). I may have been luckier than some because her tolerances are nice and tight all over. Her clawed hands and lack of articulation at the elbows (and no waist swivel) make her far from perfect.

If I pick up TT's official, it will be in the hope that some third party mods her into being a lot better, as happened with Racthet/Ironhide. I'm sure with the lack of die-cast and Hound's crappy plastic applied, she'll stand like a champ as there'll be no weight to her :)

Ironically I think the Earthrise figure looks fantastic for the money. Maybe we can cut and shut together a perfect Arcee :)

Erf. I hope not. With no weight to balance her out, she's going to spend more time on her face than a sailor on shore leave given her small feet and slightly top heavy build.

The chest is purposefully far down because the designers know a lot of japanese have a nonexistent social life.
(Slight jab towards young japanese men in Japan; the population of Japan is going down due to a lack if socializing outside in the real world.)

Arcee looking especially shitty next to that artwork. You'd think with a design that bad they'd try and, like, not have a side-by-side comparison of what she's actually supposed to look like.

    Thank you for the explanation.

I mean magical is a bit of a stretch. Azalea is just very efficient and Rouge, as fiddly as she is gets the job done at the end of the day and doesn't end up with the immensity of backpack that Takara's does.

MMC's toy being extra skinny and folding itself up so flat meant it needed a lot less vehicle shell mass to cover up its bot bits, alongside its rear/internal torso assembly being the center of the car as well and it having a different shape of parts more ideal to its robot form. It's backpack parts are specifically sculpted to very directly and closely layer themselves around the robot parts. That's why it works so well.

Rouge far as I can tell is just a less efficient Azalea design that folds/compresses less but has enough moving pieces it manages to work, as nightmarish as moving those pieces can be.

Takara, basically went full coward with their design and seems to have attempted little to no smart engineering to speak off. They literally built a car shell and strapped it to the back of an oversized Figma and called it a day.

Would hardly call it lazy ,what they thought was important enough to sacrifice to get the results they wanted they did. No different than MMC or FT did with theirs.

You are correct, Takara took the lazy route.
Though I will say this, Azalea may be the best overall Arcee figure, but save for the face, sacrifices sculpt for a clean figure. The legs look off, and the toso is too long and flat.
Rouge looks good, but she doesn't have the best tolerences or posability; not as shapely as G1 Aree really is, but it still looks good.
I've come to realize just how thick Takara's plastic really is. It may not be the most durable, or even exist in one piece, but it's still thick. They have so many structural bumps to keep panels from bending. MP Arcee has the thickest struts ever,; the whute struts remind be of MP-44's waist hing. MP Arcee, in my opinion, looks the best in what she does. If she were to get a new face, and a bust lift/neck reduction, she'd look like Arcee, but will tank on her back.

Whoever the designer of this Masterpiece Arcee was, it’s clear they half assed it, and rushed it. MP-05 Megatron comes to mind. You can do MUCH better Takara. Arcee is one of my favorite characters, so I’m beyond disappointed in this figure. I’ll probably still buy it. But, am I really going to just keep it in vehicle mode???? Ugh

It's clearly not rushed. From an engineering standpoint it's fairly impressive how clean both modes end up.

The problem stems from the fact that it was engineered to look like a specific design, and that specific design is shit.
