I've read summaries of bits and pieces of the Marvel UK stuff, and have been meaning to read it but never have gotten to it. This is the first time I've heard of this particular story line that you shared today.

Oh, man. I was really hoping this bump would be something interesting like someone asking for unrelated manufacturer contact information.

I was confused until you mentioned Quintessons. Then I realized you must be across the pond and read those fanfic comics that got mixed in with the real ones over there :p

Actually the version I got is the pure red, one of the latest, so it should be the "improved" version, and still I felt like I highly overpaid the figure (it should cost no more than 60 bucks imho); i managed to sell it and get almost as much as i paid for it, so i am okay, it just did not fit in with the higher quality masterpieces. Not only the plastic felt light and fragile, the elbow joins barely held the pose, it still could not hold the guns in his right hand (left was fine) the gun simply popped off the slot, so the issues was not fixed, at least not on my copy. The unpainted red plastic was a eyesore, maybe I would have been happy with the chrome version, at least that one was painted and had a little more "premium" look.
I also agree on the fact the legends size MST version is the best current available Blaster out there, and to think a legend figure blows a supposedly masterpiece one away kinda say it all.

What blows my mind is that we have, for example, like 5 or 6 masterpiece versions of Springer, and no one else yet tried a Blaster or Perceptor, for that matter. Are they such un-popular characters?

Blaster seems to be a highly hit or miss type character. Some people love him, but others can't stand him and consider him annoying similar to Blurr or Wheelie. To some extent it would come down to how the people who have decision making power in 3P companies feel about him. It is also likely that companies thought that Takara would do one shortly after Soundwave (why FT cancelled theirs originally) and held off. Takara even has a mold for Steeljaw which lends more credence to them doing Blaster some day and that deters a lot of interest in doing him.

Perceptor I don't know why. At least FT has reportedly (indirect report) said they plan to revisit Tesla with a v2.

Springer is more of Harrison Ford type character who attracts a lot of people, and that is not even counting his role leading the highly popular Wreckers team.

A V2, highly posable FT Perceptor would be great.

Are people just getting strapped for cash because of the Corona delay so they’re putting up wild pre-orders that are 5 years away?

Seems pretty early for these, we probably won’t even get all the characters we’ve seen in full colour this year.

Usually with Taobao only a couple of more popular stores will throw up the FT pre-orders with a silhouette announcement. Blaster's silhouette was released in Oct 2019 with the renders of their Soundwave and no pre-orders were available at the time. Factoring that and having this many stores (big and small) putting up a pre-order means it may have some extra significance. Grain of salt though etc. I would hazard a guess that's why CM thought it news-worthy to share.

This is exactly where my mind as well, the business over there are hurting and anything they can do to bring in money they are going to do.

Just like Soundwave, I am more interested in the cassettes rather than the actual bot. KFC transistor did fill the spot for an otherwise 3rd rate (as far as I am concerned) character. Plus I dont think they will give him the SG treatment.

Same here, this or an official takara release would have to be amazing for me to upgrade from Transistor.

As I mentioned in another topic, I would tread with caution on these pre-orders. Any search on the internet and you'll find articles discussion back logs, now creeping to 2 or more months, and even businesses struggling to get workers to come back and getting new ones too. One US toy company was struggling because manufacturing is at a stand still and worry if they will have anything by Fall, already missing Easter.

Otherwise, it certainly looks to be a lot of cash grab going on because a lot of sellers I deal with wouldn't have put them up so far in advance, when most of the figures haven't be revealed in color or a sample from the production line.

I don't mind spending $2-$4 on a Taobao preorder deposit now even if it is more than 1 year from being released because I know my grand total purchase price will be the lowest anywhere. Case in point, I preordered FT Goose and once it was released and shipped out my grand total came to $94 shipped.

I’m just reading through this thread/the history of this figure and wondering if we still think this is ever going to see the light of day? Every day I get a little closer to buying the KFC transistor even though there’s a reason why I definitely haven’t done that so far. But A guy can only wait so long
