my headcanon is that spectro, spyglass, viewfinder, scrapface and refraktor/reflector were all a modular spy device (ie the camera) combiner. all died pre-earth except refraktor/reflector and so to keep the spy combiner functioning shockwave experimented on him by splitting his mind across 3 identical bodies

The info is not news, and the question still remains.

 

We knew what was inside the mystery box, we just don’t know if it’ll have a special deco or other extra unreleased accessories/details. There’s something going on with that character that’s part of the initial plot for the anime.

 

Not Rung. But maybe the leader class figure will be slightly retooled or have different accessories. Who knows. All we know is who it is and the big spoiler is his appearance.

 

I might be misremembering but doesn't the write up state their are "decodable spoilers" actually inside the box too, like I was thinking perhaps there's some plot points that might be printed on the inner packaging in Cybertronian text when I read that.

"The Ultra Magnus toy converts to armored truck mode in 26 steps and includes 12 weapon and armor accessories to build up the figure." 12 accessories. That's 2 leg, 2 arm, 2 shoulder, 1 chest/head armors, 2 missiles, 2 black guns, 1 main gun. All the same same stuff he came with originally. He won't be coming with a cape or anything new. He won't be retooled. New paint job? Yup. Their goal here is to milk money from our wallets. Not to spend money on expensive plastic mold changes.

 

That seems likely. But you never know. I won’t be disappointed if it lacks a big surprise (no retooling or mystery extras) but I’ll stay cautiously hopeful there’s something more. We’ll see...

I would be perfectly fine with a nice Delta Magnus paint scheme...

 

Based on the description

He'll have a nice shiny gradient paint job like the rest of them, but also have tons of dirt/smudge/rust/damage. His description said "With 70 deco ops and battle-worn details" so a straight Delta Magnus paint job is out of the question.

 

Don't think the answer to the question is just a metallic repaint or a repaint with more or less battle damage, that is not a spoiler.

This should be another kind of repaint like a Delta Magnus or maybe a Decepticon Ultra Magnus. I would prefer the first option, would love to have both members of the House of Magnus next to Optimus Prime, shoulder to shoulder standing against Megatron and his Decepticons.

But who knows what could be the answer.

so something that confuses me is that it seems he doesn't include any additional accessories besides rung and the energon cubes so im confused why the box is twice as big as normal,perhaps this"compound" takes half the box? another theory is that the armor is seperated from magnus in box, my theory with that is that it presents the core bot which has a different identity

 

I think that it may not be Ultra Magnus under the Armour; it could be Optimus Prime in disguise.

 

If that's the case then perhaps the trailer armor could then be a homage to Powered Convoy? I mean most euro Diaclone releases has the Optimus cab in it as opposed to the original Diaclone blue cab so that'd be a neat way to homage both the Japanese and Euro Diaclone Powered Convoys.

 

Well Walmart finally updated with Scrapface’s product description and describes him as the following.

 

He sounds like a very unique soul.

 

I don't think that quite fits with the "this is the most series-accurate version of the character" line from the product description.
Plus, we clearly saw Magnus talking to Optimus in the Netflix trailer, so we know Optimus isn't in the armor.
Whatever the secret is, I'd wager it has something to do with Magnus directly, not him being someone else. That just wouldn't be "the most series-accurate version" of Ultra Magnus.
