Hmm, I think I've identified the problem - not enough moustaches!

Yeah, if they even weren't gi Joe but some other franchise, I think people would be stoked. And I get it, it's about wanting the feelings we had associated with 'our' joes.

For me I'm definitely coming round. I think they're about 15% off what I think would really work, for me:
    • Dropping the electric blue on Scarlett (and double elbows...)
    • Muting the gold right down on RB (and the vest being easily removable)
    • Removing the shin guards from Duke, and maybe making the Black on his top more of a mid grey.

    Just my thoughts though!

I feel the same, Scarlett, Road Block and Duke don’t really impress me. Wonder how the Cobra figures will look. I’m still glad that Hasbro is putting out more Joes but I’m really more towards the ARAH aesthetic.

Placed a preorder for Snake Eyes at Hasbro Pulse. I really dig him. As for the other three, the sculpts for Scarlet, Duke, and Roadblock aren't bad if a bit more stylized than I'd like.

Some of the complaints stem from the designs being too Fortnite-ish and I have to agree to a point. The lack of an M2 Browning machine gun for Roadblock in favor of some weird sci fi laser cannon is annoying, for sure, but I'm wondering if a 1/12 scale replacement weapon would do the trick.

I do like the little touches like the freckles on Scarlet's face and the knife sheath on her torso (though I'd prefer the placement of it to be higher up on her left shoulder; it looks odd with the hilt blocking articulation of her right arm; hopefully the weapon bandoleer is adjustable).

I prefer that over Roadblocks impracticality high placement. That’s quick knife deployment right there.

I’m warming a tiny bit, but it’s still a far cry from the excitement I was feeling when the line was first announced. If I see this in store (if), I might (might) give in, but I won’t be ordering these.

I hope so. I just saw the NECA Defenders of the Earth, and it’s just making me more sad about this whole G.I. Joe thing...

Wow good for NECA those exceed my expectations! You know how Hasbro thinks they want to capitalize on that Fortnite look a little. They know the hardcore Joe fans will show up anyways. Just try an gauge the general interest with the broadest appeal type of toys. That Defenders of Earth is a one shot deal I am hoping Joe carries on for a couple of years. Like the 25th Anniversary stuff. We have a deep bench. Optimism!

The entire Defenders of the Earth series is streaming for free (for Prime members) on Amazon, BTW. Another cartoon I grew up. The figures are completely unexpected, but look amazing. I really want Flash Gordon's ship, though.

I think it is mostly adult collectors that buy Fortnite. I have an eleven year old nephew that plays the game excessively and he and his friends in game and from school, could careless for the toys. Maybe you have some younger children (5-9, with 9 being the extreme top of the age range) that buy and play with these toys, but I think the majority of sales is with collectors.

I am psyched for a Phantom.... though I would prefer a One:12 Phantom. He belongs in that line.

Hasbro will inevitably get to faithful representations of the original 80s line (at least core characters), if even as exclusives or box sets. Similar to Marvel Legends they need to provide a modern treatment to entice new fans/buyers and slowly bridge back to the “retro” figures as they establish the demand for the product.

Personally I’m stoked. I loved the DTC, POC and 50th lines because they were modern versions of the 80s characters. They took inspiration from films like Predator and Aliens but remained true to the core principles of the brand. As much as I’d like to retire my collecting, I’m actively trying to manage my expectations because I’m hoping for modern recreations of all my faves. I want tons of accessories, removable helmets, weapons, etc.

Can you imagine a modernized version of a Cobra Trooper? Or Torpedo with removable gear?

Hi I’m a fan, and these are for me. Don’t be so dismissive just because you don’t like it.
