Duke comes with a realistic gun, so should Roadblock. Snake Eyes was a huge positive, now it's up to what Cobra figures look like that will determine if I personally will buy this line. Scarlett is okay, but Duke and Roadblock are peg warmers (which this line does not need).
No, it's because 99% of your posts in every thread are extremely negative. I would have been stunned if you had anything nice to say about any of these figures.
Your hopes will be realized because Hasbro will sell these and then sell us the classics or at least recolored classics because they know we‘ll settle.... and then double-dip when they finally give us what we want. I am not pissing in Hasbro’s beer for trying to relaunch Joe. I hope it does great and I am on board. Reminds me of Renegades but much more reminiscent of the classic uniforms. I think Scarlet looks fantastic and a beautiful face sculpt. I have those Vala weapons lined up for year-end and there are tons and tons of 6” scale guns I can procure before then. I think Duke looks cool. These headsculpts are very well done.
Not a fan of these POC style figures despite them looking quite nice. Other than Snake eyes, I won't be double dipping and plan to wait for the eventual ARAH versions.
As a lapsed Joe fan that has tried several times to get back in, this isn't doing it for me. I'll Pre order Snake Eyes, but none of the others are doing it. Your right on, in a year the goofy colors, armor and guns will be replaced and repainted in more realistic ways. This a fan brand, kids haven't kept Joes alive. I do think it's shitty they just couldn't do right by the people who kept the brand alive the last 20 years. Hasbro has to realize Joe doesn't get the pass on violence that other brands do because Joes don't use aliens, robots, and nonlethal superpowers. For the people that love Joes I hope this works and doesn't fail because Hasbro thinks there is some viable middle ground that they can sell in. The writing has been on the wall for years that it's time to rethink the demographics, specifically age, and how to sell to them.
25th succeeded on nostalgia, I just don't see these having the same impact, especially at a much higher price point.
I'm guessing Baroness comes with an ARBCO deremel tool. Wish we could see the figures for the Alley Vipers. That's fine there's no rule here stating that he has to like something and regardless of whether people complain the toys or people complain about people complaining in a cyclical manner, someone will buy these toys while we are arguing about them online. On 1 hand, it if people like these and some don't, those who don't won't get in the way of those want these. I want Snake Eyes, but I'll wait for one without the stand. I'm not in any rush. I REALLY hope the Storm Shadow figure is to my liking and modernized in an appealing and instantly recognizable way. Part of the reason 25th was well received by retailers was that it was substantially cheaper($4.99) in 2007 than the Sigma 6 line($12-19.99). That was one reason why even though Sigma 6 was actually doing well, they saw more potential with the 25th line.
I'm actually liking the look of these figures a lot. I'm glad they're modernized. If I want purely nostalgia-based figures I'd go for the 3 3/4" size. For a 6-inch scale, I'm cool with them going for an updated look. It freshens things up a bit. And I'm really liking the face sculpts of Scarlet and Roadblock, I think they have a lot of personality. A little concerned that I like them, actually.... last thing I need is to start going in deep on another toy line....
I most certainly do not. I like Snake Eyes, as I've said in this thread. Come ARAH figures, I will be happy. And due to the sheer volume of figures put out by Hasbro, I dont have to like every one of them.
I am not feeling those at all. They look more like that awful 2000s GI Joe line that was all stylized and stuff.
Adult collectors are, at best, the equivalent of life support for Joe, hardly the same as being alive. As I mentioned previously, the most successful Joe line of the last 20 years has been the kids geared new sculpt line, hitting $80 million during Spy Troops which is more than double the ME’s sales in 2008 when it was at its biggest. I’m not arguing that means this aesthetic is obviously the right choice, but it doesn’t mean it’s the wrong choice just because it doesn’t appeal greatly to the existing Joe fan base.
I will fight you to the death over the honor of JvC and Spy Troops designs. Feel free to besmirch VvV all you like.
Hmm! Same as some others, the new three came as a bit of a comedown after SE, but I'm warming to them. Ultimately I do wish they were a bit more 'my' (aka ARAH) joes. And I think maybe they're not as successful as (say) resolute as updating whilst capturing the vibe of the originals. I think it's partly the 'futuristic' shin guards? And a bummer not to see more headgear! I love that aspect of the 4 inch stuff. But there's stuff to like too (like those head sculpts!). And it looks like hasbro will be pushing gi joe as part of their 'back from the vault' stuff, so as others have said, we may well get more old school takes. To me, the signs seem to point to a commitment (strategically, not to us - I mean, nobody owes anyone anything here) to 'doing gi joe' rather than 'we'll see how a couple of waves do and extend/cancel depending on that'. Given that the 'above ml' level of articulation was a big chunk of the se excitement for me, it's a bit of a bummer to see roadblock in a restricting jacket and scarlett with only single elbows, but duke's looking good from that point of view. Wil be interested to see if RBs jacket can come off, and if he's got a v1 like vest look that's also possible. I'm not too worried about the sci fi guns myself - that aspect is pretty replaceable, and maybe makes for an easier sell to a younger crowd. Anywho, worst comes to worst, I'll still get a kick ass snake eyes out of this, which is pretty amazing!
I want to see some COBRA figures. Alley Vipers. Major Bludd. Cobra Commander. Cobra designs were awesome in the 80's! I hope the line eventually gets to a point where they make comic versions like my favorite WWII Snake Eyes from the Dreamwave TF VS GI Joe crossover. The way he lost his voice in that one...wow...
