I'm not hindered by buying only official (though I'd prefer official) so I've stuck with Zeta Hegemon.

Tank modes are cool, but I don't really care for a tank Megs.

Yeah, I know. I just find it strange they couldn't render a 38 on there. Hopefully, the physical toy will get it right.

 

I love Smokescreen but once I get the toyhax stickers applied to the Siege one, I'm going to be ok with skipping the ER one. If Megs has better looking plastic than Siege, I might be tempted, but I am pretty happy with Siege Megatron. Unlike some, I'm always excited to see toys I don't have to buy. Ha.

 

My favourite part is how Soundbarrier doesn’t even function as a ramp because of the ginormous ghastly hinge in the back because Hasbro was too cheap/inept to design it with a double hinge, so any Micromaster using it is going to hit one hell of a speed bump.

So it’s even worse then, because that means the tank barrel detaches for no reason.

 

Crap... they must have save a lot of money on ER Megatron.

 

I'm fine going outside "official," but this still doesn't answer the question. I stipulated non-gun modes. Not "official."

 

A whole lot of figures I'm uninterested in, except the two headed ramp guy.

 

Off the top of my head...
- DotM semi Megatron
- Animated copter Megatron
- Energon jet Megatron
- Cybertron dragster/jet Megatron
- Retool any one of BW II Galvatron, TM2 Megatron, or Deathsaurus
- Siege Shockwave retool where he forms the core of a spaceship.
- What would he have looked like had he won the Prime poll? Dig that design out of storage and rework it to fit in WfC.

...Here's a suggestion: A leader referencing this where he turns into the turret for the tank but can also brute mode up by breaking it down.



Hell...just invent something new for him. Look at everything they did to Prime during the Prime Wars trilogy. They could've done any number of things with Megatron in Siege that wasn't a tank and then had him assume a tank mode on Earth to use this figure.

Or better yet. Make his earth figure a Weaponizer. He can have his tank mode, but then break apart into armor and one of those chunks lets him form his own fusion blaster to mount on another figure's arm. So he can be a "gun" without having to be a gun. Just give him something to do other than be a tank.

But they didn't. And honestly it's kinda lame. Megatron hasn't gotten to be a combiner, he hasn't gotten a base mode, he didn't get to evolve, and how he's missing out on the fun brute modes. All he gets to do is turn into different types of tanks. Except for the one time they had a Blitzwing mold to burn so they repainted it a Megatron (and it was the coolest thing they'd done to him in years).

 

Welp the rumors for a G2 tank Megatron weren't true. I was at the very least, hoping for improvements in articulation over SIEGE Megatron. Hope we see it posed to confirm whether or not the knees bend further(I doubt it).

Looks like Smokescreen will be eventually retooled into Bluestreak and Prowl... (The blue and silver version of Bluestreak will be exclusive to TakaraTomy Mall and Hasbro Pulse while the silver and black one will be available at retail stores....)

...and if a 3rd-party company makes an upgrade for Megatron to turn him into a Walther P-38, then I won't have to spend at least 100 bucks on Toyworld Hegemon. And Maketoys Despotron is two inches taller than ER Optimus Prime....

 

Urgh! Was hoping for an ace Megatron to go with Earthrise Optimus - but that Megatron is so pointless! And that chunky sword/front of tank accessory? Ick! 

Here\'s hoping we can all do a Earthrise Optimus grey fist situation to the extreme and get a whole new Megatron! Haha!

I would recommend that people wait for Coalition (what ever the third line ends up being) Megatron, as I'd guess he would be an entirely new mold, or a pretool to Blitzwing.

 

No duh. I'm saying that you see Siege as "nearly G1" and then they literally release the G1 stuff right after that. Why did they make the choices they did with Siege knowing Earthrise was going to just repeat the same characters with even closer ties to their G1 looks?

It's not just a scummy move from a marketing standpoint, it's conceptually boring.

 

It looks like Megatrons sword may be meant for another character, looks kinda like a hilt

 

I mean, the entire tank mode shell is new parts, and thus so are the legs and even the abdomen.

Problem is it all amounts to a negligible change in the appearance. It’s the exact same design just with different surface detail which does nothing to really define it as a worthwhile change.

 

Ah yes, the classic tank I remember from my childhood.

 

I'm actually super nostalgic for the Micromaster bases, but didn't expect them to make the transition to the modern collection. I just might have to pick these up.
