After picking up the G2 Yellow Dirty Devy, I had him standing up and was fairly apathetic toward him when compared to my expectations.

    Then I posed him.

After a proper pose, I am head over heels for the dirty little guy and can't stop looking at him!

I'd love to see some of your favorite poses with pieces you have or have seen ... or heck, even just thoughts on posing in general! I had NO idea posing would make such a big difference for me!

UPDATE: Here are some I've done!

I love this thread idea! I'm a big proponent of posing your figures and how a shelf of straight standing bots is super boring. All of these are pics I've posted before but they're some of my best pose work over the last year or so.

There really a need for the companies to put a standardized port placement to use with flight stands. All Gundams have a port or adaptor underneath the crotch or backpack and this has carried over to 3rd party assembled figures. For TF I have to look for a close enough screwhole or gamble that the pincer-type stand would last, and forget about the bigger bots.

Even in the less dynamic poses I try to get asymmetry... makes for a more natural stance.

This is not my favourite pose, but I guess somehow it's a lot people's favourite pose, otherwise why I see this so often?

I think it's mostly just used as proof of an ab crunch

I prefer to think of it as bringing sex appeal to Transformers.

It's mostly inspired by Masami Obari.

In Gundam there are actual tutorial/guides for posing.

Grabbed a few off my shelves and snapped pics of the poses I keep them in. There's not enough room to have all of them in super interesting poses but I like to try to at least make it look like they've got more weight on one foot than the other and so on. Some of them have limited articulation (Rouge and the seekers don't have waist rotation) so I try to compensate with the rest of their bodies (rouge angling her hips to the side for instance). Eventually I'll get more shelves and have room to give everybody a fun dynamic pose.

I think the Gundam guide says to angle the hips and chest that way to try to make them look taller. Like if you were on the ground looking up at a giant robot, you'd be looking at the underside of the crotch area. So they were trying to evoke that with the positioning and it just sort of evolved into a style thing over time.

I recommend this youtube channel, a no-voice, music-only review of toys. He's mostly into Gundam but there are occasional Transformers toys. At the start there would be some stop-motion before proper demonstration of the details and articulation. Towards the end of the videos, he would show off a few dynamic poses (his viewers often anticipate this 'highlight reel'). English captions are available for his recent videos. For example, his review of ThreeZero DLX Optimus Prime:
