Indeed it is transformers, where some of the most popular female characters were modeled after slave Leia and a stripper. (Arcee and Blackarachnia). Shits been around for a long time, just didn’t fit the agenda then.

It’s funny how you didn’t even bother to read her post where she talks about how she feels about this. :lol

I can see why people have “issues” with this Windblade. I can understand and appreciate the constructive criticism.

I *also want* this Windblade, however. Besides the robo-butt cheeks, this isn’t too far off from other artistically different renditions of fembots. I mean, I would still want it if they toned down the “ass.” It would be perhaps my first kit by this company.

Anyone know how tall she’ll be? I’m usually not into non-transforming things; but the tiny ass Generations deluxe Windblade is just too small for my voyager sized IDW/comic collection.

As someone who's from Central America, I always find amusing how quickly some people in the US tear their hair out over stuff like this. I get that people don't like the figure, heck, I'm not a particular fan of non-transforming toys, so this figure will probably be a pass for me, but if this line is dedicated to older collectors (from what I know) I don't really see the need to be overly offended by it. The market shall be the one deciding if this has a place in the stores or not.

That being said, if you worry that a kid might see it on the shelves and want it, as a parent it is your responsibility to oversee if you're purchasing something appropriate for the age of your kid.

As for Flametoys taking down the tweets; please, let's not jump to conclusions and start shouting that the "SJWs" are forcing Flametoys to cancel this until there's evidence of this or Flametoys makes a statement about it.

I mean, Optimus in a lot of continuities can open up his chest to reveal the Matrix, so I guess that's even more bare, I suppose...

Would that be like opening up your shirt to flash your chest at someone, or ripping open your ribcage to reveal your heart?

Eh, either way, I still think I'd get this Windblade if I had the money.

As a Transformers fan who has not been buying the current Furai model kits, I would absolutely buy this Windblade kit as-is.  I hope my voice and dollars count.

I am really not trying to belittle you here, and I really appreciate your point and the passion behind it, but I doubt this robot is contributing to anything more than gunpla as a hobby. No one hates women or wants them to be sexual objects because we want a different take on Windblade. I just bought a wooden drawing figurine that looks a lot like this Windblade, and it certainly wasn't because I wanted to hone my woman victimizing skills.

Not even ‘until’. Let’s just not go down that road at all. The type of people who use actually use terms like ‘SJW’, ‘cancelled’, and ‘triggered’ are usually not even worth engaging with. It’s unfortunate they seem to be everywhere.

If that were true, why are the female bots the only one anatomically correct?

There's no robot dongs flopping around if they're all "nude."

So you're telling me he's showing TWO layers of skin while taking out the Matrix?
    giphy-downsized-large.gif

That's a fair point, but at the same time not every female Transformer is a supermodel. In the IDW continuity there are characters like Pyra Magna, Nickel, Aileron and Strika which are much less feminine

Hypothetically speaking, IF this figure ends up being cancelled over complains (which I highly doubt), wouldn't that say they have a point?

That being said, as a whole I don't think a company should bend to the will of a handful of people complaining in Twitter, that's usually a recipe for terrible sales.

I can help with this. With Masters of the Universe, while He-Man shows a lot of skin, it’s more of a power fantasy than anything else. Be strong. Be powerful. The goal isn’t to inspire sexy feelings. It’s not, nor has it ever been the goal. The same can be said for characters like Conan the Barbarian and that cast of characters. Even Red Sonja was designed as a warrior first. Intent matters.

With Blackarachnia, she’s designed as the femme-fatale character type. Her design fits the characterization. Windblade was not designed this way. She was an outsider who rose to the challenges presented to her. If anything, Windblade fits the empowerment idea more than any other type. This over-sexualized model design doesn’t fit the character and flies in the face of what the creators’ intentions were. It’s like putting out a Ruth Bader Ginsburg swimsuit magazine. It’s not respectful or appropriate.

It boils down to intent. People are upset about the Flame Toys Windblade because Windblade was designed a certain way, with a specific storyline in mind. Granted, they’ve got to go somewhere with it after that story, but they took an Autobot leader and gave it to a hentai artist. The intent there is pretty clear, and pretty disrespectful not only to the character, but to fans who got very invested in that character. That’s the real issue here. You can have a sexy, feminine character, but when you take an existing one and just sex it up, then that’s where you run into problems.

1.Yeah, I should have said adults and teenagers instead, so that's on me
2.Yes, kids can and do buy model kits, but usually with a parent(you even brought an example), so whatever happens it is parent's responcibillity.
3.Also the same can be said about any Blackarachnia toy, that resembles her beast wars design.
First of all how is this a porn toy? Do you even know what is porn? Are you saying that every woman with a body like this is porn? Also stop acting like a white knight. How do you know if this will alienate female fans?

Jesus Christ...I'm done! I have better things to do tonight, than argue over a piece of plastic!

I'm watching all this go down, and all I'm hoping for is that it comes out because my girlfriend finds it cute and I want to get it as a present for her.

It's not everything. It's one Windblade amongst countless others. No-one is forcing you to pay so much attention to it.
