Well there ya go, Beast Wars fans should be more than satisfied!

(But seriously, Rattrap, Waspinator, Rhinox... who's the fourth? Legend's blackarachnia wasn't a hasbro release... is there another I'm not remember?)

    Edit: Optimal Optimus. Right.

I still feel that the fan vote was NOT rigged or pre-determined because it felt like Hasbro was actually surprised by Primal winning.

The design felt kind of shoe-horned... the figure suffered greatly for the gimmick, even before you get into "it's missing a mode."

Who else was in that vote that we did / are getting figures of (or would-have beens as retools)?

Like, Siege Shockwave... gimmick wise not that far from PotP OpOp.

Exactly. So they better make it up for us next year cause otherwise there's going to be a LOT of angry poses.

True but not everyone can afford MPs in general let alone BW figures.

This. It's not even different versions of Optimus Prime being put out as it's really more about the same basic G1 design being used over and over and over again which means the people who want G2 Laser Optimus,Armada Optimus, or even Machine Wars Optimus are straight out of luck. Sure we get things like Cyberverse Optimus Prime from time to time but still.

There's gonna be a point where even a character as beloved as G1 Optimus Prime isn't going to sell as much anymore however. Hasbro's going to have to sooner or later start giving out different products to help keep interest up and stagnation away and the Beast Wars will certainly be a giant step of doing that.

With all due respect while the stuff we have gotten from Hasbro and Takara are great it's still not the same thing as how the G1 fans are getting so much love on all fronts even during the times where G1 love wasn't that strong whereas the BW fandom isn't anywhere as lucky in that front. Not to mention that given how little attention Hasbro gives to BW and especially during it's 20th anniversary hasn't given fans much hope that Hasbro will eventually cater to us when if they did we would've started seeing that long ago.

In short we HAVE been waiting our turn yet so far all we have to show for it are

    1. Having BW's 20th anniversary be entirely ignored.

    2. Seeing almost all of the BW cast be treated nothing more as cannon fodder in IDW 1.0

    3. Not doing much with the idea of Primal being the next Prime in line in all of POTP with WFC starting with yet another G1 reboot.

So I can't really see how the BW fans are being spoiled in that regard when if anything it's some of the G1 fans that are being spoiled rotten and not knowing how terrific they really have it. If anyone has more good reasons to be angry with Hasbro it's both the BW fans and the other non TF era fans.

Yeah...Looking at it now it does feel like he's trying to joke about it.

@Joalro Hey man if you were just joking I apologize for not getting it sooner. I wasn't trying to be argumentive.

    Yep opop
In broad strokes the gimmick isn’t that different but in execution the potp leaders and siege leaders have almost nothing in common with their gimmicks

Yeah I was thinking more conceptual-stage stuff over actual results received.

I just think that somewhere there are designs for leader-class evolution toys of each of the next Prime options. The way Shockwave and UM were handled gives me "echoes" of the idea, as well as a bit of hope for that Star Saber...

I have no idea why that's so stuck in my head. The closest I've gotten to Saber is temporarily owning the Energon figure that was in homage to him. I didnt read the comics... maybe I'm just that done with O.P. repeats that I'm excited for any other legit autobot (or MAXIMAL) leader.

Train of thought derailed: Star Saber is to Optimus Prime as Lio Convoy is to Optimus Primal... no? Just me?

You're actually 100% correct there, because I was only 97% joking.

3% of me is actually thrilled of the current release schedule for Beast Wars. I've already resolved myself to the BW Masterpiece figures, and I realize anything more than that would be very bad for my wallet.

But 97% of me just wants them Beast Wars toys anyway.

I mean, if the exact same mold "can" be a cheetah, tiger, and leopard (shadow panther)... then these should be close enough:

I love snapper, but Terragator's robot mode is... super boring... I think it might be one of my least favourite robot modes in the line. You literally just take off his beast mode and put it aside.

But at least DeadEnd kinda looks cool underneath. Terragator is super plain underneath.

So, I've been having a thought recently about MP Beast Wars. With the recent announcement of Tigatron, it seems HasTak is going to keep making them for the time being... but exactly how far is it going to go, I wonder?

There are a couple safe bets we can make. Waspinator, Rhinox, and Rattrap are pretty much inevitable (I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Waspinator turned out to be the next one). Airrazor just got a huge boost in her chances (since if you've got Tigatron, you're gonna need an Airrazor to go with him). Tarantulas is also pretty likely, since they can reuse some of Blackarachnia's engineering for him.

But then... do enough people REALLY care about Inferno, Terrorsaur, and ESPECIALLY Scorponok to make them viable to MP-ify?

I mean, personally, I'd buy an MP Inferno in a heartbeat (I love Inferno's design and personality), but I can see these three being a particularly hard sell outside of the Beast Wars fanatics.

But then, even if the whole season 1 crew gets the MP treatment, will they move onto season 2? I mean, again, the thought of an MP Silverbolt makes me salivate, but from season 2 onwards, the show designs were actually MUCH more faithful to the toys, making MPs must less necessary. And, again, would enough people REALLY buy MP Quickstrike or Rampage to justify making them?

Then we've got season 3. If they intend to keep the (actually fairly well-done) scaling going forward... how the hell are they going to make an MP Optimal Optimus without making it the size of Armada Unicron, and costing over $500? To say nothing of TM2 Megatron and Tigerhawk.

Just random shower thoughts on the subject. I'd love some more opinions on the subject.

Then you should head on over to the masterpiece beast wars speculation thread, where we cover all those topics (and more) to point of tedium!

Just be careful of throwing out words like "shared engineering"...
