... And then there\'s this MP toy.  What an absolutely baffling set of decisions, top to bottom. 

 

It's very cartoony, which is great for fans I guess. I prefer the Leonidas figure for my lion fix though.

My favourite parts about lions are the hinges they have at the manes

 

the leg kibble is larger than the bot arm on the new one, the OG isn’t great but i feel its better than an entire limb hanging off of the arm that is bigger than limb that’s more important for that mode
tho I do think on a shelf from the front in a neutral pose he will look good, it’s just angled or posed where I feel like there might be some problems

That's where I'm at, also Leary about QC issues after picking up MP 44. But this does look cool as heck, will probably decide after I see a few reviews.

 

White Lion mode seems a bit silly, but it's all made up for with this slick robot mode in my opinion. It got me into watching a few episodes of Beast Wars II just because I really like this design! I actually want this guy.

 

I need to see pics of this figure with two other figures before I decide to wade into Beast Wars figures. 1. Optimus Primal. 2. The OG Lio Convoy figure.

It looks great, but I need to see this to gauge my interest futher. Thanks.

Absolutely! I’ll keep my fingers crossed yours is in one piece. It’s such a bummer the quality is overall bad since otherwise Hound would have been one of my favorite G1 Masterpieces.

 

Mmmmm... nope, can't say this works at all.

People give Blackarachnia or Dinobot's alt modes crap, but when you look at just what they accomplish between modes, and the two radically different designs they merge into one toy, it's impressive they exposed what little robot they do. Blackarachnia stuffs as much bot mode into and under the spider as possible, despite there being hardly any actual spider present on her robot mode to hide it in. Dinobot turns inside out trying to hide as much robot as he can and manages to miraculously conceal like 90% of it, despite once again having a robot mode with virtually no beast mode visible on it besides the arms and chest.

Lio Convoy has no such engineering mastery. His legs almost do not change between forms. No clever panel layering like Primal, no attempt to rotate as much out of view like Cheetor. It's a flip-out heel strut and that's it. Somehow that's less work than Megatron, whose legs don't even really change between modes in the show.

And that mane is such a travesty. I refuse to believe that is honestly the best TT can do. Hell, I would've expected something more like two entirely separate manes that fold in and out of each other on one big armature, not this really jumbled mess of individual hinges for every tuft of fur. I get it, they wanted the fur "texture" to change between modes... but then why are the mane pieces on the arms left as is? They could've left the mane one solid piece styled for robot mode and used all that extra parts count to better proportion the lion mode. Like the lion forelimbs don't transform between modes, so why do they look so awkwardly bulbous and janky? Why are the elbow joints so massive and distracting?

I can accept compromise when dealing with tough animation, but I don't see compromise with Lio Convoy, I see outright laziness and poor decisions. This feels like less of an MP and more a "cartoon-ization" of the original toy, which even Primal didn't feel like. I'm just not seeing the quality in design or engineering here, it all looks so cheap and poorly conceived.

 

Did a quick transformation when I got home and thankfully, still looks pristine. I'll make sure to continue to exercise caution

 

Never cared for BW2 but this figure would be a get if it was a 80-100 dollar figure instead of 150

 

Are we still sure coronavirus isn’t gna delay this? Dnt wna contribute to the hysteria but I would be srsly impressed if TT pulled an on-schedule release w/this guy ...
