The CGI model in the movie is aces. It looks awesome and I love how they took the cop motif up a bunch of notches with the brass knuckles that say “Protect” and “Serve”, the chain necklace with the police badge attached to it, and the taser attached to the right arm.

The toy, however, I feel just never properly represented what we got in the movie. The robot mode is just bland. I honestly can’t explain it but there’s just something about it that I don’t like. The vehicle mode is a generic Ford. I was excited at the idea of getting a Transformers figure that turns into a Mustang GT (it’s my favorite car) and was really bummed with the final product. It’s an okay figure, but Barricades TLK design deserves a new mold rather than a repaint in the Studio Series line.

 

The only bigger disappointment than the deluxe TLK Barricade was that the Jada alt mode model was the same horrible generic car... Why even release it?

 

I love the design in the movie. He looks badass. I was also excited for that transforming custom that was teased but never released (black apple?). The TLK deluxe figure though, as fun as it was for a week or so (mostly due to the accessories) was pretty crappy and inaccurate, IMO. I think SS will redo him better.

 

I too hope for an SS Barricade, preferably a retool of the original TLK deluxe because he scales perfectly with TLK Bumblebee.

It'll be nice to finish off the 2007 Autobot cast, but I think I'm more curious about Starscream! They should show them, and soon, I'm getting restless.

I mean, I can understand why you would just toss out Shockwave. He was a throw away character in the movie, makes sense that he'd be a throw away action figure.  

I'm actually surprised that we've haven't had more repaints in the Studio Series line. There's been ... 10? (Not including all the Bumblebee exclusives) Even so, they've usually had different heads or something to make then worth a purchase. Though I agree, that it's cool to reuse some parts and engineering.

And yeah it’s amazing that studio series is 90% new molds, even if they’re based off previous figures or share some parts. SS really is an amazing sendoff or sorts for bayverse. It’s like they’re admitting that they didn’t live up to their potential toy-wise for many years and they’re here to correct that.

Anyone think this would go OK with Soundwave? He needs a gun and seeing as I ditched my TLK deluxe hot rod a long time ago if I spray this silver it might go well with him. Plus the little thingies on the side that stop time could be little Soundwave generating whatevers. Thoughts? He needs a weapon so badly.

 

I almost feel like a set of Crosshairs guns sprayed silver would be a better fit for him.

 

My top studio series wants are 07 arcee(even though I know we will never get it), Dino and decepticon protoforms for army building

 

Finally got around to taking pictures of last year's Christmas haul. Let it never be said that Studio Series isn't a dream come true, but I definitely appreciate some of these older figures.

 

I think jtprime17 is leak fishing again. He just found some news for non transformer stuff. Prepare yourselves.

The front bumper on Prime's feet extend to make him more stable.

BB Cliffjumper eh? Well since he's also dead I can see why he's being released, repaint of Beatlebee or not. Kinda interesting how close the Wreckers are being released to each other.

A. A new mold that will be later retooled in Cybertonian Bee?
B. A "Lazy" Remold of VW Bee?
