I know I sound incredibly critical of the CDC, but from what I've heard, if you show any signs of fever and try to board a plane in Asia, you will be blocked, period.

That STATS article is pretty good, and I think they hit the key point:
"When people are exposed but not infected, they tend to travel and can’t be detected,” Vespignani said. “The more realistic you want your model to be, the more you should incorporate” the exposed-but-not-ill population."

People under 50 and below are more likely to be carriers as opposed to someone doing the vomiting, etc. There's probably lots of people like that already in the US. It's a bug looking for a window.

And there's never just one case in a group. As seen with the 'Diamond Princess' cases, cruises are extremely susceptible to widespread outbreaks, which means there could be dozens of others infected. The Westerdam was carrying 1,455 passengers and 802 crew, and it spent two weeks at sea.
How this one passenger is now testing positive is positively freaky.

According to someone I know who has business in China, though over all still in lockdown the HK Post will start working on Monday. So hopefully packages will start coming again soon.

 

I read an article online that said airlines and companies sanitize packages that come from China.
With the amount of packages that come out of China on a daily basis, if packages were carriers, wouldn't the virus be far more widespread?

 

I think they were showing that the virus can survive on surfaces for up to 9 days?

 

Doesn't matter whether HKPost will open or not. What matters is if there are planes coming over. There used to be a ton of planes coming from Hong Kong to the US. I believe it's now down to 2 a day and once a community breakout has been confirmed in Hong Kong, it's all over for a while. Pilots will refuse to fly.

Heck, passenger numbers are down significantly already even with the remaining 2 planes a day. If you look up ticket prices for Hong Kong 2 or 3 weeks out, it's as low as 500+ both ways. That hasn't happened in quite a while. At that rate, airlines might just ground their flights.

Everyone thinking business will back as usual soon is just fooling themselves.

I've accepted the fact that my 4 orders from ShowZ will not be shipped by the end of February. And I'm okay with that given how deadly this epidemic has become overseas, and how governments are preparing for the likelihood of it reaching pandemic proportions.
