    No worries, Honesty, I knew you didn't mean anything personal, just that after looking at the pictures that DX9's didn't look so good. I was just trying to share a little more insight that doesn't always come across in pictures. Truth is, I do like Capone and I'm not at all sorry I bought him, but I do prefer XTB's over DX9's, and I prefer FT's over both (somewhat surprisingly, as I've hated transforming a lot of FT figures).

    I also think it's kind of interesting that DX9 is coming up last on Motormasters. I first started with XTB's Stunticons, bought I really liked Roadking's all-in-one transformation, which in turn made me want to try their Breakdown before I decided if I was in or out on the set, and I wound up really liking it (again, super surprising for an FT figure, but the transformation on Spoiler is fairly straightforward and, dare I say, fun; I've already transformed him more than probably every other FT figure I own put together). Then, since Breakdown is my favorite Stunticon, I figured I'd try DX9's, too. While I didn't like it as much as FT's, I found that I did like it more than XTB's, so I picked up their Wildrider, which I also wound up liking more than XTB's. So I kind of expected that I'd like Capone better than XTB's, too, but instead I think Capone is the weakest of DX9's Stunticons (so far) and Gravestone is the best of XTB's.

    Oh man. To this day I have never transformed my XTB Cliffjumper.

    I’ve seen his backpack before but hot damn. I complained about the new MP Arcee’s backback, but this is almost just as bad. I super love the alt mode but would really like to see what FT ends up doing with theirs.

    @mikeszekely -

    Damn! Talk about a domino effect haha.

    I do find it funny how most of us sigh when we see backpacks/overly large backpacks, but DX9’s all seem to be free of them and then we still find something to complain about — them being too skinny or what have you.

    Thank you for the explanation. I’m also happy you didn’t take my message the wrong way. : )

    Good morning, everyone!
    Any change anybody can do a couple of side-by-sides with Striker Manus and Flame Toys Furai Optimus? Interested in size difference and posability comparisons. Thanks!!

    His head design is dumb, and yet I like the look of the figure. G1 didn't have the end all, be all character designs, but if you adjust them in the right way, you can get a neat looking figure.

    Since I never buy the same character in 3P form I sadly cannot compare anything. :(

    You mean, like, the model kit? I can. I mean, not right now this minute since it's going on 3:30am, but tomorrow sometime.

    So both are good-looking, stylized takes on a G1 Optimus. And both have very good articulation, although there are some significant differences in how they move. For example, Striker Manus as a swivel at the waist and a hinged ab crunch, while Furai Prime has a ball joint at the waist, a ball joint mid-abdomen, and a ball joint at the base of his chest. While no single ball joint has the clearance to to turn even 90 degrees they'll get you what you want by working in tandem. And while Manus has more range in his ab crunch hinge, Furai's ball joints mean he can crunch forward, backward, sideways, whatever.

    Ultimately, though, comparing them is kind of like comparing a home-cooked meal (including sides) and a banana. Yes, they're both food, but otherwise they're very different things and which one you want depends on what you're looking for in your food at the moment. So yes, both of these guys are stylized Primes, but that's about all they have in common. Furai Prime is a model kit. You have to assemble it yourself, and while all the plastic is molded in the correct colors and there are some stickers for details there's no paint that you don't put on it yourself (in my case I painted all the red and silver parts). Once you're done putting it together it's very light. Many parts are plugged on and can come off; while taking these photos I had part of spine pop off. It's really not meant to be handled. You put it together, you carefully pose it, then you put it on display.

    Striker Manus is a toy first and foremost. Yes, Maketoys give it a lot of articulation, but it's the kind of articulation a high-end action figure has. It's something you can fiddle with on a desk or put in a display. It's something you can pose and even transform without handling it carefully or having parts come off.

    Umm, Striker Manus is a stylized take on Classics Optimus, not G1 Optimus.

    Classics Optimus is a stylized take on G1 Optimus. Arguing one figure isn't a stylized take on G1 Prime because it has some similarities to a different figure that's also a stylized take on G1 Prime is really splitting hairs.
