Being informed about a subject you want to discuss IS growing up. Even if the subject is of poor quality. Don’t you know that? Only dumb kids talk s*** about a comic book they haven’t read.
Two additional pages for this issue's preview: https://popculthq.com/2020/02/11/preview-idws-2-12-release-transformers-17/
I don't even want to read these previews anymore. I have never seen any action and I don't think I ever will. I can appreciate a slow burn as much as anyone but there has to actually be a burn.
Well, Huffer did apparently get flung into whatever passes for the Stratosphere for a Transformer, so at least there's that?
Sixshot has so many death flags over his head right now that I will actually be surprised if he can survive long enough to get off of Cybertron. He's attacked and made an enemy of every poster character apart from Orion, he slapped one of the writers pets- Flamewar, and now he's pissed off Cyclonus, the other writers pet. I fear for this characters mortality. Western continuities are really rough on him, huh. Someone got chopped in half last issue lengthways, others got their heads blown off by a terrorist cell...You're right about probably never seeing it in a preview though...
Gears, wasn't it? And I'll never see it in an issue either if all these previews show month after month is bots standing around talking.
The story of IDW2 isn't about The Great War between the Heroic Autobots and the Evil Decepticons, it isn't about what it means to be a hero, it isn't even about change... It's about how many of Hasbro's poster children Sixshot can punch before inevitably facing the wrath of Hasbro.
Based on what we've seen so far, the answer is "none". Sixshot hasn't done boo but beat up Bumblebee with help from Skytread and then get grounded by Megatron. Not exactly what I'd call a sterling record. At this rate he's going to be relegated to stealing pudding cups from Geomotus and getting shamed for picking on the special needs bot in the Decepticon lunchroom.
You're forgetting his skirmish with Windblade and Chromia. The explosions he ordered put Windblade into a coma. That being said, I do find it hilarious how little he's actually done so far to warrant all the anger from the protagonists but because he's the Rise lieutenant, naturally, he's public enemy #1. He's actually done this before.
Apparently my brain isn't remotely working this AM. That said, I reserve the right to be a pendantic turd and point out that he ordered those explosions as opposed to actually doing it himself. So there. The bottom line is that I have really not liked how they've used Sixshot here. I don't need to see him be some unbeatable edgelord nonsense, but given how he's been used he may as well be basically anybody else.
See the big issue here is that he has been established as some unbeatable badass. In issue #13 Elita-1 claims he's a one man army who took down an entire fortified astroid prison by himself and rescued hostages during the Expansion era. Since taking down Windblade and Chromia he's been operating on lower doses of energon like the rest of the Rise so you could say he's just malnourished right now like Shockwave claims the Rise is, but you're not entirely wrong. I hope he does something soon that warrants the frightening reputation.
No, I’m going to continue doing so and review them as I see fit. I’ll praise the good comics and criticise the bad comics.
