Yeah never been a fan of the "Transmutate" episode. Probably the weakest of an otherwise excellent season 2.

Really? I actually think Transmutate is a great episode. Has a very strong Star Trek feel to me. It weirdly looks at issues like euthanasia, the costs of war, gives some strange character development to Rampage.

I actually prefer it to some other season 2 epsidoes, like Other Voices which I feel is out of place overall in the season, or tangled web.

It is like Star Trek... like a really bad episode of Star Trek. I see what they are trying to do with the euthanasia/the costs of war(although they did the latter one before more elegantly with Tigatron and Snowstalker) but it's heavy handed and a bit confused. Silverbolt comes of as an idiot, but I guess that's in character. It didn't help that I found Transmutate intensely irritating and I wanted it gone by the end of the episode.

Maybe that's just the difference, I kinda liked Transmutate. She was freaky looking, weird, simple, but... I kinda just appreciated that. I liked the way she said "flyyyy!". I liked the way she just went along with everyone. Willing to be friends with all, not interested or able to understand the war itself.

I just kinda enjoyed the weirdness, and actually is one of my favourite "contained" episodes.

    Agreed, agreed...
Both Transmutate and Rampage are reminiscent of Frankenstein's Monster.
This episode is where we get to see that there is more to Rampage than just being a nigh-invincible psycho.

Not arguing, just interested in your perception, both in the episode-singular context and for the character overall. What about him makes him an idiot?

As far as toys, I dont see myself ever spending money on an accurate Transmutate figure. Big part of it is that it can't transform, so it would have to be some kind of transforming figure in homage to it... like that FE Arcee exclusive repaint. But still don't want that:D
Although I would love to see an MP Rampage (I know, I know... nobody has to say it) where Transmutate's head is an accessory.

He's just very 2 dimensional, his achingly simplistic and neive view point on good and evil and the whole 'chivalry' thing is tiresome. He does get better over time though, unlike his fellow Fuzor Quickstrike. In this episode he objects to putting what is essentially a baby who's also a bomb somewhere safe until they can work out what to do with it which eventually leads to it's death... pretty dumb.

    Precisely.

If I could only skip one episode of BW when watching the series, this is the one I’d skip. I have no desire to observe that abomination either two or three dimensionally. Rampage did get a little development, but that’s the only boon I can find. Overall just very unenjoyable to watch, and you all know I’m a sucker for Star Trek in its many forms (except the new continuity, don’t @ me).

Transmutate really does helps give depth to both Silverbolt and Rampage. For Silverbolt it shows that despite his goofy knight persona with a well meaning but unstable black and white view on things really does have compassion for others and is willing to help them when it's needed. And for Rampage it shows that despite his horrific and sadistic personality he's not above empathy for others who are damaged just like him, which in a way makes Transmutate's death more tragic in that regard cause it might have killed off whatever was left of Rampage's empathy and sympathy for others since he lost the only friend he actually made in his life.

Thanks for the explanation. I'll say that I disagree about SB, but still don't feel like "you're wrong." I can totally see how he could be taken that way.

I had originally thought "idiot" was literally referring to something more like operative intelligence (which I think he's probably just average).

Kinda crude. Nice digital colouring but the symmetry of details is off, and the right side is semi transparent in places. Refined, this could look extremely good, and I assume this is a rougher sketch for the most part.

I'm right with you on all of that including Star Trek. discovery is terrible.
Nah I just think he makes, very dumb choices a lot of the time and he's more of a caricature than a character for most of Beast Wars.
