Hasbro super rarely reissues modern molds and it was 14 years between this F-15 Starscream and the Classics Starscream. I would be very surprised if we get another new F-15 SS mold in 5-to-10 years.

Considering how much use the Siege mold got in one year (Starscream plus six repaints) plus how much folks are excited about a voyager size earth jet, I don’t think it’s farfetched that this mold will remain hot for collectors.

I am also not fearful of audience decay. I think this hobby and franchise has shown very strong lasting power with fans (older fans stick around), has shown to be a multi-generational fandom (parents pass on the fandom to kids) and regularly cultivates new and young fans that explore the franchise- all these reasons are why TFs remain a very high priced item on eBay.

People have been asking for a voyager F15 Seeker. It’s here. It’s pretty good. It’s not likely to get reissued or redone (soon). I think that’s a recipe for regret for anyone on the fence.

I have now pre-ordered Starscream. Bring on dozens of repaints, my kids can pay for their own college ;)

The engine nozzles look better on the old classic mold than the ER. Feels mostly like an upsized classic deluxe mold. I guess if it worked on the constructicons it'd work here too.

This is almost exactly where I'm at. It is definitely more than just an upsized classics SS. But there's so much missing from it that makes me balk at it. It's like, if copying the classics only let them get this far, I'd have rather they just started from scratch to give us, at bare minimum on improvements over this, a waist swivel. But likely more. They could even simplify the transformation if it meant more articulation, as the seeker format being so blocky wouldn't look all that bad stuffed under the jet mode. (And I'm firmly in the camp of "no fake cockpit." Just fold the thing into the chest and done--works for me.)

Still unsure if I'll pick one up yet. Because if I do, it's getting all three. I just feel like, this is the mold they'll milk to death. Might as well make it the best one.

I'm in for these three, being totally satisfied with the Siege Seekers.

Myself, I was never a fan of the tetra jets that were in one episode for 5 minutes. I would much rather have the f-15 that were there for the rest of the time. But that's just me.

I get that there’s aspects of this Ss that people don’t like, but I honestly don’t understand why people keep saying this is “based on the classics seeker mold”? Sure, Shogo Hasui could’ve borrowed reused certain elements from the Classics mold, but it’s brand new engineering. It’s a retail sized G1 SS that turns into an F15, all designs based on this will end up more or less sharing some similarity to the Classics mold; certain things just gotta go to a certain place.

Try and design a G1 Jazz 10 different ways? The basics are already there, hood chest, back wheel feet. With a retail budget, you just can’t get into those little “Masterpiece moments” to make a difference.

I think it's because(aside from a very similar transformation) it still manages to bring over some of the Classic design's flaws, despite rectifying some others. For example, still no waist swivel, landing gear on the Classics one left a lot to be desired, this one has none at all.

Honestly the biggest complaint most seem to have is that this isn't as articulated as SIEGE Starscream, so people(like myself) expected more out of this, since it's directly after SIEGE Starscream.

ER Starscream as is would've been more warmly received 5-10 years ago.

To me, this toy has the feeling of a 10-year-old figure. Like, if he was out at the beginning of Generations (which would have put him in an HFTD/RTS box, same as Grappel, since Generations was deluxe-only) it would have fit right in. If that were the case--besides being a taller figure as voyagers were back then--the lack of articulation might not have been noticed. Today, it just feels like a step back on the engineering side.

Also, I'm fairly certain they even said this figure was based on (or inspired by?) the classics figure--don't quote me on that wording. But it was something to the affect that they admitted to taking cues from the '06 deluxe figure when they first showed him off. I think that's also where a lot of people are coming from, myself included.

I think Takara/Hasbro have done a fantastic job. Finally a great Voyager Earthrise Seeker mold.
