This was the character I was most worried Takara might cheap out on, but this absolutely blows all of my expectations out of the water! That being said, the price tag definitely reminds you they didn't cut corners... I only buy maybe 5 or 10 figures a year now, primarily but not all MP, but these still hurt. That being said, I'm getting cautiously excited at the prospect of having the full season one cast in my display cases!
Agreed, I don't think it makes a blind bit of difference. I fully expect this 'perceived' trend to be broken soon enough. TakaraTomy don't do patterns, indeed Tigatron being MP-50 proves that they rarely stick to their own 'plans'. I still think the chances of seeing see Rattrap, Rhinox or Waspinator announced before the end of 2020 are pretty high.
Delighted to see Tigatron to be honest, was concerned Rhinox would be next who'd cost a fortune right now lol. Most people don't know how revered the white tiger is in Asia so to me it being a landmark 50 makes sense. I also think the tiger eyes work like BW Megatron in that they roll around from green to red/orange, don't know if anyone noticed it.
You're surrounded by Beast Wars nerds; of course we noticed it! But the panel seems on his tiger head suggest the eye switch will work more like Dinobot’s gimmick. I’m hoping he has a few Beast heads with different expressions just like Cheetor. It’d be funny having him in robot mode with a smirking tiger face on his chest.
I think Tarrantulas should be soon, maybe one BW MP between Tigatron and him. Tigatron looks very far ahead in production so I kind of expect one more BW MP this year. Having just gotten Blackarachnia I can safely say I like her way more than expected and if he's so similar and bigger I'll absolutely love him, he's probably my favourite pred aside from Quickstrike.
I hadn't seen it lol. I did notice that panel and now that you say it that could be quite possible. His tiger head looks flatter in bot mode so I'm curious myself if this product is in final stages as it looks to be. Curious what his other robot mode faces might be.
Tarrantulas would be easy for them to do but I think people might get upset if the next one is a perceived repaint/remould. I want Tarrantulas next but the head thinks Inferno next.
I know there's no law, and Takara follows patterns until they don't. However, since they've been doing the more popular characters mostly, I don't see why those three wouldn't have been done by now if they weren't taking those figures into account. Waspinator is one of THE most popular characters. I agree, if I'm wrong then it's likely one of those three are next because they are popular. But if I'm right, we'll see one of the other guys announced this year. And even if I'm right, that they haven't been done till now because they take into account the figures already existing, that also doesn't neccessarily mean they will do those three absolute last. It could also just mean that they would rather do popular characters without a figure before doing the popular characters with one, THEN the less popular characters. But still, I'd imagine if they were doing it purely in order of popularity, we'd be getting all three of those before Tigatron.
Works to scratch the itch and make sure people are more invested in the line. I'd argue there's more popular characters than Tigatron and Blackarachnia but they've got MPs and the reason why is to get people to buy the line "to support it" until the favourites get done. Good business. If I had Tarrantulas I don't know if I would have gotten BA but I bought BA just because and I really liked the figure and it makes me excited for Tarrantulas.
I'd agree with the sentiment that there's no pattern or reasoning to how they've been getting released. I'm almost hesitant to think that they may even go in on a new BWII character. I'd be keen on a Tasmanian Kid or something along those lines, but of course it's more likely to be from Beast wars. We're almost guaranteed to see something Rattrap related this year due to the whole "Year of the rat" post they put up, which would be amazing. I'm so fascinated by how this figure will be engineered. Looking at the beast head and the chest of the bot, the panel lines match up making it look like there won't be a faux chest. Also the legs look to engineered completely different to how Cheetor's were. I can't wait to see more images of this guy so we can determine further information.
