He transforms completely different from Cheetor though.

Hate to say it, but on close inspection, at least 85% of it was borrowed from Cheetor. Sure he looks awesome, but lots of the smaller details were even copied and with Cheetor there to directly compare, there's truth to that.

The superficial details are similar between the two because that's how they looked on the show. However, transformation wise, they go about things completely different. They literally transform in the opposite direction, as Cheetor's beast mode legs fold onto his belly and he spins around.
Tigatron's beast mode legs flip onto his back and his beast mode head flips down onto his belly. No faux chest. Back legs transform completely different. Tail and lower back fold into the figure instead of turning into a weapon.

I mean specifically what I saw at Wonderfest, as I'm not speaking of the TV show. Lots of the paint and details were no doubt upscaled. Whatever the transformation sequence, I'm unaware.

Exactly. They sculpted a lot of details to look the same, to stay true to the source material (i.e. the show). The figure is a 100% original sculpt though.

Obviously Devastator is awesome, and I'm pretty stoked for Arcee, but it's sad seeing the state of TakaraTomy these days... :(  as people have been saying, no new Generations Selects, and quite frankly, no new "hey fans, we get you! we're still way better than Hasbro!" type announcements. I mean, maybe they're saving things for the summer WonFes, but it's still disconcerting. That, and in Japan, half of Earthrise is now going straight to TTMall, so maybe Transformers are dying here after all :(  not enough schoolgirls wielding fantasy swords I guess.

Ok, so regarding Armada Prime, no decision as to whether to put him in Masterpiece, Generations, or another line. It hasn't been canceled but nothing has been decided what to do with him as they wanted to show the prototype to gauge interest. I told him a boatload of people want to buy him and encouraged him to make it happen.

Next thing the booth director stated was regarding the factories, different materials were used in Vietnam but were unaware how they would pan out for Hound as they were unaware of what the results will be. They know of the breakages right now, but no decision has been made for a future rerelease and if they will change the factories or materials for Hound (I was shaking my head inside as I heard this, without showing him of course).

Regarding rising costs, he says fans lately have overly demanded for the cartoon aesthetic. So in other to pull off the cartoon aesthetic while maintaining the proper alt mode, the number of parts for each figure has gone up versus say the MP Datsuns and Wheeljack. The cost of materials has also gone up which also contributes to the rise in pricing. I let him know that many fans feel that the prices may eventually hit 30,000 or past 50,000 yen like Prime and will be forced to quit the hobby. He said that this is something they have discussed with the executives which further contributes to the decisions of what figures will be made next.

I let him know that the fans are very worried about rising costs yet the QC continues to fall and if they can do something to stop the QC problems. Fans don't want to see the Masterpiece line dive-bomb (well, some people out there do want to see Takara fail miserably) and he said that he is taking my feedback as advice. I said that would sound correct and we just hope that they can do something to address actual concerns from fans that are not just from Japan, but worldwide. I took it as more him talking out of his ass than truly addressing our concerns. But the fact that I brought it to his direct attention and that the fans in bunches are complaining about Hound, Bee 2.0, Prime 3.0 etc, outside of Japan, they know that the message is loud and clear. Wake the f%&k up and work on improving the quality and pricing of the figures.

Doesn't feel original enough to me. But hey, as long as he gets made and the figure is top notch, I'm good with the looks.

Studio series Constructicons look great. Lost interest in MP figures a while ago, but that Tigatron looks neat for the folks who are still into them. Not surprised by the lack of new Earthrise reveals. Expecting Toy Fair for those.

That’s wonderful! Great reporting, thanks man. It’s always good to get honest feedback, due to the language barrier for a lot of us here it’s hard for us to know what TakaraTomy are thinking compared to say John Warden or the rest of the Hasbro team.

I do t know if you’re done but if you do have a chance to go back would it be possible to ask about Super Megatron & any further information? Just like when it may be announced with official pictures or the like (we already know it’s coming as the teaser was announced almost a year ago too)

That and if you could mention how much everyone loves the Seacons, & if this really is the last one for now or if there are plans for any more combiners (especially Liokaiser & Dinoking/Monstructor)... I doubt they could say too much, but so long as we pass on we love what they’re doing & we’re hopeful for more (when the Seacons were announced Takara mentioned that these were the last for now, and I’m hoping they’ve changed their mind or the statement was lost in translation!)

And as always, thanks again for what you’ve found out so far!

Well that makes me sad, because this means even if he does get released, it won't be for a long while out.

Thanks for taking the time to ask questions though.
