Im really pleased by this news. He was always on my 'fairly likely list' just because he can reused some of Cheetor's design/engineering (and clearly does). I'm really glad they went 'big cat' with him! They had to really, would anyone have been happy if he were Cheetor sized? Interesting that he doesn't have a fake chest...it makes sense really as his chest was less 'flattened out' than Cheetor's was in the show. Plus I sort of prefer less cheating and never liked forcing Cheetors beast head inside his chest and bending the whiskers. There seems to be a lot more 'going on' in his legs, arm guards and backpack... not as sleek as Cheetor. I guess the bulky beast mode has to go somewhere....talking of which it looks beautiful! TT are really knocking it out of the park on Beast Wars. Indeed both modes look phenomenal and I love the scale shot with Dinobot and Cheetor...purrfect. Even if Tigatron wasn't super high on my 'must have list' (although to be honest I want them all baring Scoropnok who i could take or leave tbh) his existence makes me more hopeful we will see much of if not all of the season 1 cast. Sharing engineering/body type with Cheetor may open the door to a Tarantulas reusing some of BA's engineering and he does break the A-list only approach they've taken thus far. We'd need to see a totally original mould dedicated to a less popular character... like Scorponok or Airrazor to put any skepticism around that to bed for me but I'm certainly fee much more optimistic that they'll get round to them all now. Now all I need to do is brace for the price... I'm predicting 30-35,000 yen
I think some of Cheetor's engineering is there but there are a few updates that the upscale size allows. It looks like the tiger thighs become the robot calves for example. You can tell that the beast forehead/eyes open up and flip/rotate to the robot beast dead eyes.
I don’t think anyone would, no. I kind of like this actually. It differentiates Tigatron more from Cheetor and makes the figure look a bit more involving. We will have the price discussion at some point anyway, might as well write down my thoughts now: I can’t see this being more than Dinobot, I just can’t. I hope it balances out somewhere between Lio Convoy and Dinobot, hopefully closer to the former. Problem is - you were never too terribly off with your predictions and that scares me.
Heh...yes I scare myself. TBH I'm expecting more towards the bottom of that prediction 30,000, he'll certainly be more than Lio Convoy (20,000) and Dinobot was 28,000 two years ago. Accounting for inflation and crazy TT tax I think he's gonna hit 30,000 yen easy. However you are right maybe price chat is premature, I just can't help but speculate as it's become a real issue with the line in recent times, that and QC... fingers crossed!
He’s got a little peg hole on his left arm which could be used for transformation but also could be used for the missiles
Man, I'm gonna have to find a new spot to display my Masterpiece Beast Wars figures soon. Had to cancel my order for Lio Convoy for now but this guy is a must buy right away. He looks amazing~!
I was just looking to see if any of the KO companies had done an OSKO of Cheetor because I was itching for an MP Tigatron. Really hoping this hits at around 200 usd since it doesn't have all the insanity of Dinobot's transformation and bulk. I honestly thought Rattrap would be next.
Man, that is a damn good looking Tiger! I love how after all our discussion on what Tigatron would be, it is definitely the best version we talked about. Full on retool. We always knew a repaint couldn't work, the beast modes are very, very different in shape. But we also knew they could have a similar transformation structure, and this definitely seems like that. I'm imagining that now that he is using the real beast head, that leaves more space inside to put al those extra panels making up the tiger. The legs are very, very different. Tigatron actually has less of the robot colours on the front of his legs than cheetor, making him slightly less accurate in that regard. The beast back legs also have a very different structure to them than cheetor. It'll be interesting to see how different it transforms, because it does seem quite different indeed. I will say I'm happy the chest isn't fake, but again, it does make him a touch less accurate. Even for Tigatron, the chest did squish a little. It seems as though Cheetor overall will be more accurate in robot mode, but I'm fine with that. The sacrafises seem small, and his Beast Mode is georgous. And I'd argue that Tigatron would say his beast mode was more important anyway.
So happy. I always liked Tigatron's colours WAY more than Cheetor's, and the MP transformation doesn't have to cheat as much (no need for a fake tiger head on his bot chest, since it's the same shape in both modes). This will be my first MP purchase since... BW Megatron, unsurprisingly.
theres no need to worry about the sacle of Mp Bw figures cause Bw figures dont have to adapt their beast mode scale to real animal. So if takara tomy make Mp Bw scale like this, it IS like this. And from the look between Dinobot and Tigatron, I think Tigatron can be real complicated.
I'd say the fact he seems less compromised by slavish adherence to show accuracy is a very good sign indeed. Both modes look fantastic and don't appear to be compromised by one or the other in order to pull off something more show accurate, there appears to be some real balance in his design which is refreshing indeed! Please stick to this TT!
