MP-11 is more like V1.5 ... its not different enough from the original.

 

Ironically it's closer to what the original MP-03 prototype was like by Kobayashi than it is to the production MP-03 which Kawamori substantially redesigned.

I'll be surprised if Starscream is MP-50. If it is, I hope it's delayed for as long as it takes to get it right and solid with no flaws. Make it with sterner stuff than Hound.

 

I really, really hope a new G1 MP character appears at WonFest this Sunday. Takara needs to pick up the pace with the big guns. I believe they can score a grand slam with some stylin' new G1 MP characters, instead of riding this deadend of reissues and repaints. Let's not have another 2018 breakdown.

what this really shows is how dated mp11 actually is!!

i have completed my seekers with original takara/hasbro molds and customs so i have 13 of them the original 3 , 3 welcome committee , 3 rainmakers , 3 coneheads and a clear purple ko the only ko i own ( apart from the ko skywarp i bought to paint into hot link but not counting that ) so going to be a bitch starting again but if a new version looks good it's going to be hard not to buy them

i have been waiting for an mp11 version original or ko but never happened it's the only one i need so i was wrong my mp11's are not complete   have been tempted to get the mp03 one but would look odd next to my mp11's

 

I think that sold so bad (as sleep Convoy) that takara did not attempt to made another version, that is a shame. (And i can see the same destiny with coneheads, if the upgraded mold is expensive)

(You can still get the mp03 one, the head is opaque so you can swap it, and the samurai hips sword holder are easy to pop out)

 

While Kawamori was a good choice IMO, to redesign MP-03(since he designed the Diaclone Aerobat F-15 which was later repainted/released as Starscream in the Transformers line), I wasn't too fond of the scabbard look. He wanted the CFT extensions to look like scabbards but to me, if you're going that route, why not add removable swords and go all the way? They aid in a dynamic look when in robot mode on the stand, but are otherwise extraneous parts IMO.

Hip range of movement was substantially compromised as a result(which I only knew after posing MP-11 after having MP-03 for years prior).

If we get a new MP Screamer, I hope it can pose like Sunstreaker and have HARD ratchets instead of soft. I have never understood why Takara used soft ratchets on some recent MP's like Prime's knees, Hound's hips, et al. Reeks of cost cutting in the worst way.

 

What do people think of the new MP being Rodimus Prime ...

....It could make sense seeing as its a popular character and that's previous MP is kinda outdated now (and was also pre-MP10) ..plus they could make it fit in line with cartoon accurate aesthetic.

I would be quite up for seeing them have the trailer transform as part of robot form too.

Thoughts?

 

Would be cool to have a new Rodimus, but didn't they just reissue the old one? I feel like a newer one would be a ways off. We're overdue for a new Decepticon. My guess would be a new Starscream. If it's an Autobot, maybe Cliffjumper? or another minibot?

 

I could see it happening, if the info floating about that he's highly popular in Japan is accurate.

Same goes for Soundwave v2... MP13 just got a re-release too, but everyone seems to be expecting him sooner or later. I think the same goes for Rodimus Prime

 

Optimus and Bumblebee were reissued and not long after, their redos were announced...

 

I've been imagining that Takara's Wonderfest display will have as its centerpiece four figures, in pairs, shaking hands: Lio Convoy and Burning Convoy, and Optimus Convoy and Rodimus Convoy. And then everyone will look close at Rodimus and realize, that's not MP-9... and then see the placard at his feet that says MP-50.

The redesign sure was a bummer at the time, but now I love him. Greenscream makes a really cool unique contribute to the seekers team. He needs an official proper name though. Nightscream is my mine.

I know there is a lot of wants for redoes. Hell, I want a proper rodimus and new ultra magnus, but I would be happy TT sitting on all of those for several new G1s. Minibots, Blaster, Preceptor, Skids, and Reflector immediately come to mind.

It would be if TT created an entirely separate team for wanted redoes that wouldn't interfere with mainline MP releases.

I want it, been thinking it was almost a sure thing since like 5+ years back. Certainly a long time coming as MP-09 hasn't aged well and left a lot to be desired with much room for improvement that never outright was(as in perfected). Yea it was ambitious but no one can tell me that advanced engineering made the handgrip loose for guns, that's all tolerance. The hollow elbows introduced on the Hasbro released served no other reason than to piss me off lol I couldn't figure out a functional nor structural advantage for them to even be tooled that way. I'm sure there's some long winded speculation proclamation explanation but still doesn't change the fact that most of hated those elbows.

Anyways I'd like to think it's coming close for the animated movie anniversary along with a Galvatron. Just hoping for no soft ratchets and no garbage materials. MP Rodimus was botched enough with the V1 and MP-09B releases.

hmmm, i'd argue as he stands mp-09 started the cartoon simple look. i think he nails both modes (but that hot rod bot mode is like lazy and doesnt count) although he cheats at winnebago mode. durability wise his knees and a few other poionts are an issue (although i've been lucky) and him not being able to hold his gun correctly was dumb AF. i wouldn't be againts a new mp rodimus prime but i won't be running to preorder it. i just don't like the character that much and mp-09 is "good enough" looking on a shelf. i dunno somewhere deep inside i still hate hot rod/rodimus. i'd take a v3 seeker over rodimus anyday but its because i love seekers (i konw i'm not the only one with well over a dozen mp scale versions lol). honestly out of the big boy leaders...mp ultra magnus needs a redo more than anyone. i got him and his superior repaint (Delta magnus), but to me they were always place holders and i later regretted getting them....nothing better has come along so i still got em. mp ultra magnus needs to be redone. would love a white "prime" (thats not mp-44 based) and armor. needs waist swivel goddamn it. lol.
