I find a black redeco for Rodimus a bit boring: everybody does it.

I would've much rather seen a Sideburn based deco (like the Botcon version of the original classics Hot Rod). It could even work as that disguise deco Rodimus Prime used in that one episode.

 

Did this mod today, worked like a charm. Stands much better now! Thanks for posting the tutorial!

Got mine from TFSource today. No bonus mech, but I wasn't super interested in that one anyway.

One of his front wheel pins was kinda mangled, and the wheel wouldn't turn at all. I was able to take it out and file it a bit, and work the wheel around it until it moved better. Still not as freely as the other side though.

A bit disappointed that the matrix won't stay in... Falls out easily. I'm tempted to just glue it in there.

Had a lot of trouble finding a pose where both his arms could hold on to his base gun until I realized I could turn the handles around, leading to some much more natural angles.

Also, I have another solution to his feet/balance issue for those who don't want to make any permanent changes by filing anything down.

If you leave the heel spurs folded up, he's actually more stable than with them down. Still not great, if you bump him he'll go over without much force, but he stands on his own much better.

Apologies if this was already mentioned.

 

Got mine today too, from hzj. It's a great figure and the little mech is pretty cool. He definitely has issues standing up straight and he's a lot taller than I anticipated, even though I've seen pictures. It would be great if I could display him as Hot Rod, instead. As it is, he towers over HS Optimus. I've got him kind of squatted down in the back, just to even things out a little.

If somebody else releases a smaller version, or a legitimate Hot Rod, I'll probably swap him out.

 

Mine was send back to the seller. It seems they tried delivering it on December the 20th and because I wasn't home, as they mention, it was send to the pickup place. Normally when that happens they leave a notification that you can pick it up at the pickup place which didn't happen. Third time this has happened. And I was home that day, been home the whole of December because I couldn't stand on my right leg. Normally I find out it has been send to the pickup place because I have a tracking number, this time I hadn't, must have ended in my spam folder. After two weeks of not picking it up it has been send back.

Maybe this is a sign from Primus I'm not supposed to have this figure.

Or Unicron doesn't want me to have Hot Rod (= Papa Toys Flame Warrior) and Rodimus Prime (MFT Flame Commander) together, this time even his head would be destroyed.

i was really hyped as well. but this was the first bot i actually kind of regretted buying.

Well you know, their designs are on the lacking side when not copied from other companies who know what they're doing  

 

the design wasnt that bad. but in the end it was a mixture of the feet and his head that did it for me.

the finish of the bot was top notch all the way around. i just couldnt get past the issues i had with it.

 

Eh I quite like him. I fixed the feet per the tutorial in this thread, helped a lot with the stability. I don't have a problem with the head, or the height. Someone above said he "towers" over HS Prime (???) but I put them next to each other and they are the same height. As far as I'm concerned he's a perfectly fine Legends+ Rodimus Prime. PPT's is still Hot Rod for me. I might try the shoulder mod too but it's not bothering me so much right now.

 

yeah he was a nice bot just not for me. i did get a nova prime for him so no complaints out of me. he did his job and that's prime in my books.

 

That was me that said he was taller than HS Optimus, which, I think you're right, he isn't. I think it was the way I had Optimus positioned on my shelf that made him look shorter, when I added Rodimus to the display. That said, he is much taller than I'd prefer him, but he is a Rodimus Prime figure and not specifically Hot Rod, so I should have probably been more prepared for that.

He is a great figure and MFT did a solid job with him, in my opinion.
