SPOTLIGHT MISSION: CIVIL WAR: CHAPTER 2 - FEAST OR FAMINE

They have been revealed today. They are Soundwave, Bludgeon and Ramjet!

I'm excited for Bludgeon.

 

These monthly mission stories are honestly funnier than they deserve to be.

I also find myself strangely invested in the “just what the fuck is up with Ultra Magnus?” little plot going on. I honestly feel bad for the guy, but who to trust? D:

 

And now i have to play spotlight...

 

I'm only halfway through, but the whole story is just Barricade, Bonecrusher and Mixmaster wandering around looking for munchies. The Autobots stopped producing the Energon they'd normally steal, so they're just starved and gormless and fighting anyone who might have some. Oh, and all the while Mixmaster is having separation anxiety.

It's unironically the most engaging TF fiction I've read in some time. All the spotlights are like this, I just wish the main story had this humour as it breaks up the monotony of the gameplay. The slog becomes bearable when you get little bits like this as a reward.

 

I completely agree. I don't know who the writers are for this game but they seem to have a great handle on the characters. I actually laughed out loud at the interaction they have with Starscream at the end of the spotlight.

I got so burnt out when this came down, but when they included beast wars and more g1 characters I kind of got back in, but it looks like it stopped making more fighters after tantrum. I hope they get more characters that are not just palette swaps like Starscream and Thundercracker.

 

Game's still quality.
Sometimes you don't realize what golden shiznit you got on your hands till it's gone.

If someone told 8yr old me back in the 80s that i could have a constantly updated top quality Transformers fighting game in my pocket one day I'd be over the moon.

The fight mechanics, graphics, ability upgrading, missions are all top notch.
A mobile game where skill gets you as far as money.

The (skeleton crew) developers are trying.

The fact that we haven't had a AAA TF game in 8 years is depressing. Hasbro should be all over this like how Bandai are all over Gundam, and the fact that we haven't had a hero-based FTP game yet shows a lack of intelligence from Hasbro by not tapping into this popular market. Transformers was made for online PVP. TF Online had better deliver.

 

Just goes to show that the Bayverse could have been unequivocally awesome if they had just spent like 5 minutes on character development.

 

The hole one is hilarious. If Bay'd team up with these writers, we could have an army of Bayformer Decepticons that have the spark of a Waspinator.

FORGED TO FIGHT IS UNREASONABLY AND UNDOUBTEDLY THE GREATEST TRANSFORMERS VIDEOGAME

(besides Earth Wars, maybe... or Angry Birds Transformers... or the WFC games... whatever.)

 

Point is that there is no doubt some good quality to Forged to Fight, but updates and ideas for new fighters have kinda stagnated. News stopped making front page, and people who have not really leveled up their characters got kinda beat by the grind. The grind to me is a little tiring, if not for the best mobile game writing this team has to offer. I do yearn for the day we get more news on the Transformers Online title from the makers of freaking Halo: Online and that alone has some good promise.

Plus I kinda got lost in the crystal shard business. One can be spent with money, but others have to be farmed with certain characters and the difficulty spikes super bad in some spots. Like I really like to farm for the demolition shards for a shot at Megatronus, but I got no place to go.

I had a look at the videos and breakdown of Nemesis, and while I do see how he can be different with his copy buff and health steal abilities that separates him from the OG; his attack, idle, victory, and stance animations are borrowed from Optimus' character model. Functionally he's different and I can respect that for those who mind it like the copy ability being super useful, but everything else including his class advantages and disadvantages are the same as Prime's. A quick remedy to this is that Kabam should have a road map to redo any animations for characters who animation wise are too similar so they can feel distinct from another. Fate: Grand Order does this, because character and quirk-wise, Saber and Saber Alter are TWO different people.
