Thanks! SZS is so accommodating and the customer service is great even under frustrating situations (not to mention the current impact of the Coronavirus that is impeding their shipping schedules).

Initial impressions:

1. I can't recall the last time I've ever just stared at a figure out of the box and not want to transform it. I was quite shocked, and it might have been in part to not expecting to receive it perhaps? Visually the entire figure is a lot to take in! I can't yet see myself sitting down to attempt the transformation, which is totally opposite of how I am! I like the bot mode a lot, and fall into the "it's better looking in hand than in photos" category.
2. This one feels like it's a definitive representation above and beyond the official MPM. Tons of various improvements.
3. The paint colors are gorgeous, but I wish the yellow fade was more orange. Even still, wow is it sexy!
4. I did get to fiddle a bit with the chest and opted for @Lukelbs config to get the headlights flush against the abdomen. I love the extra bonus that config offers in terms of it preventing the front cover panels from accidentally folding back inward too.
5. I really like the flip out mask alternative, but I think the head should be slightly larger. The neck could benefit from being a bit wider too.
6. The hips are looser than I would have liked.
7. I don't think I'll be using the swords. I don't like the rectangular cut outs in them, but I know what they are for.
8. Matrix chamber is tough to open. I have to use a pick to pry it open.

Overall, I can't technically say it was worth the wait because I assumed it was lost in customs forever... BUT now that it is here I'd say well worth the cost to own it!

Question:
Do the mods that bring the chest windows in closer to the sternum also bring the shoulders in too, or is that not the case?

Awesome!! Glad you finally got him. Didn’t they send you a second one as well, I can’t remember. That makes me wonder if the one I ordered from them about the same time will randomly show up at some point.

Is it? BA is known mostly for modified KOs. What are they gonna base their knight Prime on? Voyager toy?  

 

Dang. SS Leader class figures ARE small.

Black Apple has said after ironhide he is done with making modified KO’s. He plans to continue to do his chibi line and hasn’t mentioned too much else on future products.

 

NNNOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! He needs to at least perfect Ratchet and Starscream too!....  

 

Yeah wasn’t great news to hear. But hey, he did say ironhide is coming some time around summer. Who knows, maybe if it does well enough he’ll continue them.

 

Sh*t, this is just as exciting as TW's CHUG scale WW2 line...
I mean sure, unusual designs are always appreciated but come on - there're still plenty of movie bots to cover  

 

It moves in both. It helps his head seem less small too.

 

GAAAH! I'm so torn between this fig and the Black Mamba LS-03!

I like the backpack better on this one, but it's also about $50 more. I love the transforming rear tires on this one, but the swappable rubber ones on the BMB version actually look better to me, I don't mind the partsforming.

The price might not matter in a couple months when it's closer to my birthday. But the indecision remains!

 

For some reason I have both figures. I can definitely recommend BA Prime over BMB's Prime. BMB is a great figure, but it just feels like a bigger copy of the MPM with a couple of modifications and that's it. BA's feels like a different figure all together. It is what all MPMs should be in the first place imo.

If you like BMB's, go for it! It's a great option. If you are interested, I'd consider selling you mine. Still have all the original boxing and stuff.

Otherwise, I cannot recommend BA's more!
