People who are infected can be contagious even before the symptoms show up, so if you're even partially concerned it could be related, the smart thing to do would be to limit your exposure to other people, wear an N95 face mask when in proximity to others, and if you spark a fever or feel your condition deteriorate, alert your healthcare provider/urgent care/hospital BEFORE you head their way (specifically mention receiving the package from Wuhan recently) so they can be prepared to receive you as a possible carrier and then likely clear you fairly quickly as a false alarm.

Yeah agreed, already have one... but realistically, everyone that processed it at the sort facility in the west coast would have already exhibited symptoms before it arrived on the east coast.... it was held at customs for like 6-7 days... which is why I'm not concerned...

 

I get what you're saying, but just to play devil's advocate on that -- do you keep in touch with the people working at that facility? How do you know anything about their health status? The only thing the US government is officially reporting thus far is the confirmed cases, not however many more might be suspected or however many people have self-submitted for examination at local health facilities. More than likely, yes, you're just fine. But not for the reason you've given, which is based on something you simply don't know.

You're right that I'm not in contact with them. I live in Canada though and we only have 2 confirmed cases, i don't think there are any other cases in the country they are investigating except for the people that were on the same flight from China as the husband and wife that were sick. I guess on the flip side, having received a package directly from Wuhan, should I not come down with it, everyone else will be pretty safe lol....

I've seen reports that the Chinese government likely isn't being entirely honest with the numbers and that in fact it might be way worse than previously thought. This is backed by nurses working in Wuhan stating that the number infected is actually closer to around 100,000.

But again, its all heresay and rumors until its confirmed, but we are dealing with china and thats quite unlikely.
