I was in there a couple years ago. It was alright. Nice set up but not a ton of inventory when I went.

They have a new location that opened over the weekend. That’s the spot he’s asking about.

It seems to only be a vintage toy store. I might have to check it out, but I'm sure they mark up market prices. My buddy sold his complete G1 Megs to one of these places (like a idiot) they gave him $50 for it and then turned around and sold it for $300.

Anyone know of any stores in the IL area that carries MP or 3P figs?

I know it's the first one people mention, but I did get a MIB DX9 La Hire at Quake West a couple months ago for $60.

Its about 40 min away from me. I might have to check it out. I tried looking at their FB page, but you can't really get a good grasp of what they got from it.

...that's how basic commerce works. Items are sold for less than they're purchased for as the items go up the supply chain. And what were they supposed to do? Buy it for $300 and then try to sell it for $2500?

That is why I don't sell to scurvy places like that. They usually try to take advantage of people ignorance. When my buddy told me he did that and I showed him how much it was actually worth. I thought he was going to go back up there and kill the guy.

there’s a place on California Ave called Nakama that I believe has them.

Also, how did your buddy not know a G1 Megs wasn’t worth more than $50 going in?

It’s just like the show Pawn Stars. Someone brings something in knowing it’s worth so much doesn’t mean the shop is going to buy it for that much. The shop needs to make money on it so they’re going to buy it for less. It’s the customer’s decision to let it go for less to get the money now or try and get their asking price on an auction later.

Because he found his old collection while cleaning out his dad's house when helping him to move. He doesn't collect or know the value of them, so he took them to a vintage toy store and sold them without looking them up. He ended selling a complete OP, Megs, SW, SS, TC, SkyW for a total of $200. When I told him how much they were worth. He nearly shit himself and got really pissed.

Yeah I told him he would have gotten more if he would have sold them himself on ebay. I helped him finish up moving his dads old house and we found more. I bought his Omega, Jetfire, and another Soundwave from him at a reasonable price since they were missing quite a few parts.

Nakama is cool, but I’d check the website first. You can walk in and be delighted or disappointed. They really only stock for what has been preordered. Anything left over tends to be just that, left overs.

Bloomington Normal Walmart on Greenbriar has 4 G1 Reissue Astrotrains. Also the Walmart on W Market St. has the Marvel Legends F4 wave except for She Hulk.

he could have decided not to sell. he took the quick cash and left without wanting to research. store gets to benefit from him wanting the fast cash.

if he wanted more he could have taken the time to do the research them online.

he can be as mad as he wants but DDBD.
The store didn’t “take advantage” of your friend, they made a simple transaction of perceived value. Calling a place “scurvy” because they made a fair offer that was accepted shows me you’re not self aware of how this stuff actually works.

Me and my dad are taking a trip to Champaign for the day tomorrow. Any good places to get Transformers in the city?

Now here’s a possibly ignorant question. Just where the heck are the new waves? I moved to the southside of the Chicagoland area from a very small town with the nearest Walmart being 40 minutes away. I’d expect in a larger city like this for stores to get more inventory as they sell more to a larger group of customers. But no! Same figures from when I arrived still sitting on shelves. It’s a very first world problem to be whining about toys but I just expected to see figures more frequently.

They probably do have more inventory but now you would have to deal with more people, such as other fans whom are looking for the same thing, Scalpers who want to make a quick buck, and parents who buy new toys for their children. I live in a big town myself with multiple targets and Walmarts problem is they either have new stuff or they don't mostly its just a roll of the dice

I can help answer this. Having worked over 10 years at target, around now is typically when retailers start doing their spring resets for the toy and sporting goods departments. Most new assortments will start showing up more frequently over the next month or so. January is typically a dead time for new stuff to be put out because many retailers are still in recovery mode from the holidays. Some stores will start resets earlier than others or just flex new product out beforehand. I've been ordering the newer waves of studio series from amazon. They're the same price as target and I don't have to drive around in the salt looking for Shockwave or Scavanger.
