I'm excited for this, not because I'm a BW fan but because it has a good chance of being fresh and interesting. I look forward to designs, fortunately for me I don't have a super strong emotional connection to BW and I will be able to sit back and enjoy these properly.

For Bumblebee, I'm hoping his face continues to evolve into something resembling his G1 face or his Goldbug mouth plate. Either way, if Travis Prime and Megatron make it I'll finally be at peace with Transformers Cinema.

Yes, I’d like to see a more G1 accurate face as well. We’ve already seen what this could look like thanks to XM:

I strongly suspect the Beast Wars movie will be Beast Wars-esque, but not a straight up adaptation of Beast Wars. I think it will be like how the first movie was inspired by G1's first episode, but was a "modernized"/"relevant" take on it. It had most of the stuff we expected (Optimus, Megatron, Autobots, Decepticons, landing on Earth), but stripped those elements down to their rawest form and reinvented them for casual audiences. Dark of the Moon "adapting" The Ultimate Doom (with aspects of Megatron's Master Plan) might be an even better example. It's a very loose adaptation. Even Bumblebee kind of did that. Bumblebee played more into general '80s nostalgia than it did specifically G1 nostalgia. It's really not an adaptation of G1, it's an '80s movie in the style of ET with some G1-flavored sprinkles on top.

Like, I could see the Beast Wars movie being some kind of Kong: Skull Island-style movie where a bunch of humans get stranded on an island and encounter a long-lost group of Transformers that have been warring there since prehistoric times. I can't see time-travel being a thing, and I can't see it literally taking place in a prehistoric setting. I mean, if it's live-action, the human element will almost surely be a major component, judging by every other movie they've done. They'll find a way to make it accessible and understandable to an audience that isn't familiar with the cartoon, while still keeping iconic stuff like Optimus Primal and Predacons intact. Considering Bumblebee basically just repurposed ET's formula, I could easily see this movie doing the same with something like King King.

And if this is the route they go, I'd enjoy it. They need to make this stuff accessible to casuals, that's the only way we'll get big-budget feature films based on this stuff. Even Marvel does this to an extent. I just think people really need to keep their expectations in check for this one. If people are expecting them to literally bring Beast Wars to the big screen, I think they're going to be in for a disappointment. They have a hard enough time with G1, and Beast Wars is even trickier.

Okay, I'm working on my own pitch here for the first Beast Wars film. It takes elements of the show and plays around with them in a way that is fresh and more self-contained.

So this is way in the future, Autobots and decepticons have evolved and all that. Maximals are explorers and leaders, Predacons are a subclass. The workers, the grunts. Decendents of Autobots and Decepticons. Predacons are obviously not pleased with their role in society, but they accept it, for the time being. There has been no contact with humans for thousands of years. It is a new era for transformers.

The maximals find a probe in deep space. They take some scans and discover it is the voyager space probe. It has the golden disc from when humans first sent it out into space, but attached it has a second golden disc. A return message from an alien species. The voyager probe is on a return-path to Earth. The Maximals are intrigued by this and take both discs on board. They attempt to decode the new disc, track the trajectory of the probe to find out who responded to the voyager probe. Who is this species? One of their low-level analysts (Tarrantulus), who is underestimated because of their predacon status, manages to decode the new disc and it's origins, and sends a low-level signal to an underground rebellion leader, Megatron. Megatron gathers some loyal subjects, and some less-loyal subjects with specialist abilities. They steal a ship, attack the Maximal ship carrying the golden discs, and make an escape for the alien planet which made the response disc.

Another nearby maximal exploration ship is sent to intercept and follow to take back the discs. They follow the predacon ship back towards the alien world. Just before reaching it, they go through a transwarp anomaly which damages both their ships and they crashland on the alien world.

Megatron recognizes that he indeed made it to the alien world he was after as the landmarks match those of the alien response-disk. He recognizes that these aliens have powers beyond what Cybertron has ever seen and wishes to take their technology. But the aliens aren't on the planet, and no sign of technology. It's a seemingly primitive world, strange, with two moons.

The maximals are a step behind, though they do have some fragmented data tracks containing world landmarks from the disk. While Megatron searches the planet for technology he can use to take down the Maximal ruling class, the Maximals look to stop him. You are almost sympathetic to Megatron's cause, and some of his followers, like Dinobot, seem to truly care about the lives of the Predacons and how difficult and repressed they are. They believe in the cause. But throughout the film, Megatron goes further and further into madness as he tries to take control of alien technology he doesn't understand. He ends up activating the giant superweapon moon, nearly destroying everyone on the planet. At the last moment, Dinobot turns, realizing Megatron has gone beyond the cause and has become too self-serving. You can probably figure out how a lot of this ends. Revelation that the alien world was also Earth, both disks come from earth at different eras, the voyager space probe came from, went to, and then attempted to return to Earth. Timey wimey and all that.

I feel like this stays true to the original concept, but is a lot more self-contained as well, and has a chance to expand on the alien storyline that was never as fleshed out as it could have been.

Huh... I wouldn't wish what Bay did to G1 fan's on any other type of cartoon fan out there. But what are the odds that Paramount will just screw up BW's lore the same way...?

that would be interesting I would see it. and if they are being made side by side could they be part of the same universe? like while BB2 is happening the beast wars movie would be happening on a remote island. could be a good way to reintroduce an organization like sector seven back in.

I'm guessing it will be connected to the Bay movies at least as much as the Bumblebee movie was so I doubt we will get any element of that whole shocker end game plot from BW with the Autobot ark and Megatron's plan to change the results of the future war. That was one of my favorite parts of Beast Wars and it was the big thing of late S2 and all of S3. If they do this movie with high quality CGI animals/bots and get the personalities of the characters reasonably right though it could still be a real fun movie to see.
The best thing about Beast Wars was it's characters, which there weren't all that many of so you got to know them well. Rattrap, Rhinox, Dinobot... Gotta get some of these characters right, and would probably do well getting Kaye and Chalk to come back as Primal and Megatron too.

If all goes well we could very well see a revival of beast wars.

I'm just not entirely sure if we will see the more mechanical versions of beast transformers or the bio-mechanical kind, likely the former after all animating all that fur would be expensive .

I liked Zodiac, mainly because it was on a subject I have a passing interest in(but let\'s clarify which version of Zodiac though, because there\'s more than the David Fincher version), but this guy wasn\'t the only sole writer on Amazing Spider-Man 1 & 2. Alex Kurztman who worked on Transformers 1 & 2 and is currently destroying Star Trek, cowrote on those films too. So I\'ll hold my reservations until directors are named.

Also this could be producers within the studio and other interested parties trying to drum up interest from outside investors. The same thing happened recently with a new Star Trek film announcement with the JarJar Abrams cast and and as far as that\'s concerned its dead in the water because they can\'t come up with the finances to get the cast signed on let alone pre-production.

But if Bumbler is going to be the focus again I\'m not interested. It\'ll be more beatbox puppy dog Bee the family dog routine.

So I know I'm mostly talking to myself here, and getting stupid ahead of myself, but by golly I am excited by the ideas and this is the only place I have to vent.

So Beast Wars: Alien Disc, as described above, would be the first film

    Follow that up with

    Beast Wars: Protoform X

A dark and horror-esque movie about Primal's true mission. It will be the first film with Dinobot squarely fighting with the maximals. It will have some predacon/maximal team-ups as they fight for survival, with Megatron pulling the strings.

    Film 3:

    Beast Wars: Code of Hero

Dinobot struggles with his role in history. In the first film, the alien disc was at the heart of the battle. But with the revelation they are on earth, the human disc now carries much more significance. Dinobot fears Megatron may win, and what that may mean for the future of Cybertron. Can he sway Megatron to go back to a more moderate path and use his new found power to fight for the Predacon working class, or is Megatron beyond saving? When Megatron threatens to kill the human race, Dinobot's decision is made for him.

Finally, some REAL NEWS. I’ve been so bored of nothing happening on these forums.
Oh, he’s gonna have a seizure

I feel like it’s way too early for them to try Beast Wars. They should try to at least get a GOOD ensemble Transformers movie done first.

I'm both excited and terrified. At this point I trusted Knight, but then even with these guys' track records, I can't help but worry what's to come. We've just returned and I'd rather not the film franchise end up dead in the water if they don't make the cut.
