TF evo has been dead for 2 years now since the failure of their hot rod, so nothing coming from them indicates dead or moving on. But think about it, nearly 2 years after teasing it, they rebrand and make it under a new name without all the bad press behind it. Not that crazy an idea for a 3p.

Although technically they said they were only going to be releasing figures from the last 2 movies in their first year, so timeline wise I'm not sure they were actually working on him when they did this tease. But still, it would be awesome if it were true.

 

It's either awesome, or really worrying. especially with @Pikachu_King 's opinion on it in hand.

 

I'd love a MPM scale OSKO of this devastator, but sadly a 1-metre-tall combiner is probably out of the question

I kinda wish we could see how the other characters they teased would've turned out, assuming they had learned from the Hot Rod/Fire/Mess fiasco.

Their Rampage seemed to be in perfect scale woth MPM-3.

 

 

To be fair, their actual design and the prototyper were solid, it was just the production version their factory made was just crap for some reason. I'd've hoped they've figured that part out though, or at least used a diff factory.

 

that's what miffing me now I'm all in for this set. The combined form is SS scale, the bot and (mostly) alt are MPM scale. So it's all over the place.....

I wasn't sure yet, but now I'll definitely wait for some English reviews first before I commit...

 

So split just arrived today and have spent the whole day messing about with him. I would say he’s very good. The transformation is not fun and very complicated however what this figure is doing in combining and having an independent robot is a lot. The paint is fantastic and the little details incredible. Robot mode is fun, just need to be wary of the legs but when you have the supports attached it really helps his balance. He is actually bigger then I anticipated which is a nice surprise. There are a couple of thin plastic tabs that worry me but will just need to be careful. Few teething things like a couple of loose screws that needed tightening and a few holes for tabs that needed sanding down a little bit for the first figure very happy just hope they can refine a bit more for next few releases.

 

I fully expect them to be tweaking every other figure they’ve shown us using the SS line as inspiration now.
Split would have been too far into production to do this but they’ve got plenty of opportunity for refinements with all the others.
Not that I really need them to- as I’m totally satisfied with everything as is- but I’m sure there will be certain design choices they could implement and details to add which may improve what they already have.
As for this being TFEvo making a comeback; it’s a shame their spokesman went dark after encouraging people not to buy Hot Fire or else we could ask him. This does appear to have the kind of crazy complicated transformation that’s up their alley but the quality just seems a bit too high.

 

If that's the case I seriously hope they tweak Scavenger and Long Haul.
