Does anyone realise "Devcon" might not actually be named as such when he does get a toy?

The reason we call him so is because he was given that name in DOTM concept art... in which everyone was given placeholder names (Soundwave-Breakdown, Sentinel-Ultra Magnus, Shockwave-Blitzwing, for example) to protect the movie from spoilers. With that in mind this obviously means "Devcon" is just also a placeholder name for the big green killing machine - who to my knowledge has never appeared in any past show, unlike "Blitzwing" who was obviously a cover for Shockwave being purple, cyclops-eyed and all.

If you think about his name-source, a Cloverfield-esque Decepticon being named after an Autobot bounty hunter doesn't make sense either, does it?

With that in mind I'm curious what "Devcon" will be named when Hasbro does give him an official name once and for all. Would they officialise the fan name we've grown to love, or will they pull a Trax-KSI Sentry and finally introduce a real name years after the release of his movie?

Here's a food for thought - if Crankcase, Crowbar, and Hatchet never received toys we would've called them Dreadwind, Hooligan, and Dirtbag. They weren't named in the film and so was Devcon. The only difference being that three had toys and one had none

You're 100% correct, but I hope they keep the name if he gets a toy. What better name for a Decepticon that turns into a Soviet truck armed with A FUCKING NUKE than a play on the word DEFCON, the United States' defense readiness configuration alert system? Seriously, what's more apt and clever than that? Really, it's G1 Devcon with the unfitting name.

 

Ksi boss was his concept name and i dont believe he was ever named in the movie, plus i think it would be wise to name him devcon since they can keep the trademark for a few more years

I feel stupid for something i just noticed on Studio Series Shadowraider.

They really did take the extra step in detailing this guy as a rouge mercenary with the scratch mark over his decepticon symbol.

current verdicts

• didn't get acclimated with trying to deal with the (for now) loose shoulders, went straight to transformation
• 3 1/2 hours of finessing went into how the truck currently looks
• as everyone says, leg transformation was elegant and everything else was a trainwreck
• lots of good ideas marred by fragile material
• stupid stupid arms and hands, just slight lack of clearance scraps whole flow

Conclusion:
If anxiety was an action figure, Ironhide would be it. Its confident form is undercut by how much unneeded pressure it suffers from. The area where the doors tab into the smokestack have too much tension, and to get the front to line up I sheared off the grey Road Armor bumper's side tabs. Still, as any MPM contains, 06 has great intent present; really just suffers from relying on clear pieces to house tabs. Maybe I'm still doing something wrong, and while I'd definitely like to get to know this figure better, I can still sympathize with those looking for consistency who bought it at original or higher price. Such an experience, especially if someone's first MPM, can sow someone's lasting distaste for MPM lol

I really hope MPM-8 and MPM-9 are the real sign of things to come, and the days of figures like MPM-04 or MPM-06 are behind us. Tired of hearing commentary on how these figures are proof that movieverse aesthetic can't be engineered into MP (because that's wrong you donut)

 

I kinda wished that Canada would get more stock in for studio series in like everywhere cause so far in my area weve had nothing but the same old Wave 1 leaders and Wave 2 Voyagers in Tru shelves and most walmarts since last year and i had to resort on buying more online which i kinda dont like doing for transformers honestly. I have not seen even Jetwing and Hobotron at all in the wild these past year in shelves let alone scrappymetal and hightower like the distribution of toys in my area sucks so bad and i really want Jetwing so bad to complete my 07 bois.

Also weijiang mpm prime is so gorgeous like holy moly this is the definitive mpm prime rn for my book now just to wait on BAs hide and mpm ratchet then im done with the 07 bot casts finally. Only gripe is the chest as some people has said, the legs being not as articulated and the beed for a larger head. Other than those things this is a solid 9.5/10 for me.

Also at least i didnt get screwed with this prime unlike my legendary one where the waist was pinned down and couldnt move his waist lol.

I don't hate his 2014 conecpt design (I actually quite like the robot mode as long as he's got the battlemask on) but I'll still have to agree with you. The 67 Camaro form is easily my second favourite of all his modes.

My biggest peeve with AoE Bee is the fact he wasn't designed as Bumblebee. It's pretty clear Stinger was made first and Bee was adjusted to match him. As a matter of fact, what became of AOE Bee and Stinger belonged to a concept art fella named "Wasp" - a yellow coloured Stinger that happens to look a lot like AOE Bee. Hmm... It's as if Bay loved "Wasp" so much he insisted on keeping him in the film as Bumblebee despite the fact Bee, a hero, would be carrying the design of a villain. Can you imagine if AOE Optimus Prime were Galvatron in Prime colours? He doesn't look so heroic, does he?


I wish he kept a variation of his Trilogy design for AOE. This would've been the Bee I wanted to see battle Stinger in Hong Kong:
