Really middle of the road for me. He feels the most standard Optimus thus far, like what most people think of the character written as much. The coolest thing about him for me is Takehito Koyasu voicing him in the Japanese dub cause it's freaking DIO.
His voice actor is just okay. The writing on the character itself has been good to great imo. I like that his guilt over launching the AllSpark emulates Marvel Optimus' guilt over launching the Underbase, I like that he's willing to give peace a chance, I like that he's principled and unwilling to let Megatron sway him about violence and collateral damage as a means to an end, I adored that instead of Prime's lame 'Prime's don't party' line Optimus here is actually portrayed as simply not being the most socially adept guy when he's not leading a mission, which is why he just doesn't like them much. All in all it's a good, faithful, engaging Optimus Prime which is not exactly common in recent memory. Prime Prime was a wet towel, RID15 let him be more interesting but he wasn't always in focus, and the Bayverse....I adore Cyberverse for this and many other reasons.
That's something that I like about this Optimus Prime, how he is portrayed like a good guy, that is not that good socializing and getting fun, is like a cybertronian Captain America (and is how Optimus should be portrayed imo). I also love how it uses violence as the last resource, as show in Parley, when is trying to make a deal with Megatron and the Decepticons. In conclusion, a good Optimus Prime, maybe not the most iconic, but a solid version. (I am new in this forum, amd not a native Englis speaker, then sorry if I have gramatical errors).
I like him. The dialogue is stilted and that can be rough for ANY actor but probably is even worse for this one in particular. Despite that, I think the writers at least know how to handle him, if not how to write lines for him.
I don't care for the voice. Sounds too generic and stilted, as if the voice actor is trying to affect a voice that is a little too low for him and, because of that, he is unable to emote effectively.
The voice acting for Optimus is hilariously bad. It sounds like someone piecing together random clips, trying to form sentences.
He's super generic. Cyberverse is basically a "greatest hits" of Transformers (with some really odd character choices thrown in, like dumb lackey Lockdown and not-Lugnut) and this incarnation of Optimus is basically a hyper-distilled version of what Optimus Prime generally is across the multiverse. It's not great it's not bad; I don't get why people are bashing his VA for his Peter Cullen impression - after all, Peter Cullen won't be able to grace us with his vocal talents forever - but his personality and characterization are very bland.
It's because we're looking for more than just an impersonation. I'd rather have somebody who puts their own spin on it rather than a Peter Cullen knockoff. There's only one Peter Cullen.
