Animated Shockwave was actually based upon Armada Megatron's design with elements of Transtech Shockwave thrown into the mix but I do see how some people can see Whirl in it. As for this Shockwave it's interesting especially with how he has two normal hands for a change. It's cool that they're doing something different with a character that already has plenty of G1 accurate 3rd party representations.

No, I haven't, that's my point. It was a joke. As for why they went with this: why not? Who's it hurting? It's a solid model of the ship with a neat and creative twist.

 

I'd be into this just for the ship mode, but not until I know there's an Autobot shuttle coming as well. I like my sci-fi ship display to have both ying and yang, but if I can only get one of them, then I prefer the more iconic... and between the Autobot shuttle and Galvatrons ship, this ain't it.

If you look at the side of Transtech Shockwave's head it's similar to Animated Shockwave's except obviously it's longer and sharper looking.

 

I like this. Needs a gun hand, but other than that. It's a fun concept. If the Ark can be Omega Supreme, why can't this ship be Shockwave? It makes about as much sense.

 

Not nearly as much. I mean, Omega has always been a massive robot that turns into a rocket/ship of some sort that carries that Autobots, while shockwave has always been a normal-sized bot that turns into a gun.

I'll reiterate my head-canon for this bot that I think helps justify it.

To me, this isn't actually shockwave, but shockwave gets his hands on the Revenge and, being the scientist that he is, reformats it into a mindless transforming mech in his image that he can pilot to take on other large bots or combiners.

 

Be cool if they made trypticon into the nemesis like the WFC game. I agree about Omega into the ark; that’s a cool idea

I would like this so much better if it turned into a generic cybertronian bot instead of Shockwave. The part of forcing it to be a known characters instead of giving it an identity of its own just kills it for me.
