Interesting. It might just me, but it almost looks like he’s stockier than the final figure.

 

Looks like the original plan was to split the cockpit.

 

I would have liked this figure better if either leg could be the cockpit in coptor mode instead of a fake ass cockpit on the bottom of the coptor just for aesthetic purposes.

 

So that's who we have to thank for this sexy chopper boy.

 

Seeing that leg design now actually makes me wish that was what they went with, even though what we got is pure G1 goodness. Looks like it was more modernised.

Please don’t let this mold just be for Spinister. It’s so good.

 

They made the right decision 100% first deluxe I've bought two of, happily.

 

The leg details in the robot pics don't line up with their equivalents in the helicopter drawings.

These pics of the robot mode imply half a cockpit for each leg, but the transformation sequence doesn't allow for that. As it is one of the legs needs tucked under the helicopter so having the appearance of half a cockpit for each leg is almost pointless.

Clearly the decision came to choosing between the appearance of the G1 robot vs G1 box art.

 

I wouldve really liked to handle the concept art version, but I\'m happy enough with how they did it on the final version since the figure is so great.

 

That's what I'm thinking. I'm staring and staring but the concept bot mode just doesn't line up with the concept alt mode. It could be like you say, simply the appearance of half a cockpit for each leg, but then the rest of the cockpit will have to come from somewhere to complete the alt mode and I'm not seeing the rest of that cockpit anywhere on bot mode. Cool concept art but its just that, a concept. I don't think this could have been a full figure without the tweaking it got

Imagine how wide the cockpit will be in copter mode even if the engineers pulled it off.  Just can\'t look good in physical form. I think the actual toy is near perfection as it is... fun transformation, great looking modes, awesome articulations, what more can we want?  Fake cockpit tugged under the copter be damned I say!
 

 

And I just realized how much his head looks like Optimus...

What a lot of people aren't appreciating is that they used more plastic to make this version of Spinister and fully enclosed the leg.

 

It looks like in the third picture of bot mode, that one of the legs is a full cockpit for some reason

 

Do we know if there are any other concepts of other figures? I’d love to see the ones for Springer and “Jetfire” especially.

 

To me, his face looks like evil Cheetor with mask.
