Seeing how this release turned out to be a clusterfuck, no one here has the right to judge you for shit. Yeah, mine's good but I don't know about next week, or next month. I'm very, very outspoken in regard of TT products, because I love what they are going for, but fuck, I'm not blind either. This is unacceptable.

However, I'm not going to let the angry, no help, good for nothing I only post to tell you how to spend your money or how stupid you are mob dictate how to express my excitement. I still think Hound is a proper MP. In fact, one of the best. It is a damn shame that the QC is simply non existent.

Still no response from from Nippon on my request to cancel the pre-order. So fed up with this whole situation.

Didn't use PayPal. Used a MasterCard foreign currency card, but there must be something I can do to claim it back. I'll need to investigate that.

 

I have a lot of both official MP and 3P figures, and I was initially in on getting this figure, having already owning Fanstoys Willis and I was considering swapping it out... I know the official is more toon accurate, but man, my figure was busted straight out of the package. I never even transformed my figure. I sent mine back to initially wait for a rerelease, but then got to messing with Willis some more, and on my own judgement decided to have my funds be transferred over to something different. I was really turned off by QC on this figure. I'm not knocking the design. I think it looks cool and the transformation is slick. That being said, the quality of plastic used in this figure is awful compared to previous official MP figures. Quality of plastic doesn't even hold up to my Willis figure, and I've owned that figure since it first released. Takara Tomy needs to do a MUCH better job...

Do you still have the card? Call the number on the back. If it’s a MasterCard currency card, it should have all the buyer protections that a regular MasterCard has.

Received my replacement Hound from AJ...short story is that is has a broken rear left leg hinge just like my first copy...

For some reason Amazon shipped it in a BAG this time with the usual cardboard insert, but the box was not shrink wrapped to the insert. The box didn't appear to suffer any crushing but there was a hole punched through the front. Maybe they're trying to save money on shipping after all these returns...? Also, the box was double taped.

All seemed well though, no cracks out of the box, and this copy actually tabbed together better in alt mode and fewer of the joints were scary tight. However the paint was less clean, was scraping off more easily when joints were worked, and there's an ugly splotch right on the robot abdomen.

Sometime during or after the first transformation back to Jeep mode, though, I noticed the rear left hinge was now cracked in the usual spot. For full disclosure, while transforming I bumped that panel very lightly with my hand and might have heard a small cracking sound, but there were other joint-moving-sounds at the same time so it's hard to say. Kinda thinking between this and the paint flaws I'll just keep my original glued copy and send this one back...

Does anyone know if there's a limit on back-to-back-to-back returns for the same order?  

 

Well my copy has finally developed the head armature crack. I still pose him regularly though. I'm delaying sending him back as long as I can.

Got a bit overzealous with the white balance but I'll share anyway.

 

@Prime of Shadows , our man @Sam is keeping his collection lean n mean for now - Optimus, Bumblebee, and Megatron. He says he might pick up a Hound reissue. Hope so!

@chchchch you can return them together. I just initiated the return through the replacement. You may want to contact cs to make sure , but the bar code # they gave me was the same one as the original return one.

 

Ah thanks man! I'll have to consider all the options...my first copy is good enough that I want to keep it, but I might consider exchanging over and over again until I get a better one or the reissue occurs   (as long as AJ doesn't ban me or something!)

 

This is all really disappointing, and not really just because of Hound, but because it's putting doubt in my head that these cranked up prices are for anything more than just making something feel more prestigious rather than a better product. I will admit that as much as I liked MP 44, I never really thought he was worth the price, and the knees were just donk. Besides that, each MP release seems to have an issue lately, like Beast Wars Megatron's crotch or Dinobots shoulders or MM Ironhides bad tabs. Hound is a new level of... I supposed cost saving production practices. It makes me think they want these to be high end models, yet they need to transform and be handled, so you can't just use any old plastic.

At least Blackarachnia is okay? Unless there is something I missed?

I don't know what Takara has planned for the future of MPs, but they sure are teaching us not to buy them right away.

That's pretty much where I'm at in considering what I wanna do here. But your replacement experience is making that far less appealing of an option.

Yeah, all these recent issues are making me more hesitant about future MP preorders. Something I never really expected to happen.

Looking more & more like I'll be applying for membership in that club before long!  

 

If you can keep your first copy till you receive the replacement it's worth a shot...then you can at least hope to frankenstein a good copy together. But if your goal is to have something more than a shelf queen, probably best to just wait for a reissue*.

 

MP-47 really is a looker. Reading all your horror stories about bad QC and overall how a bad product MP-47 turned out to be, I'm kind of glad that I had to cancel my preorder in the end.

I'll definitly wait for the reissue, hoping there is one, before caving in to this otherwise marvelous figure.
